Site is painfully slow for me

Is it just on my end? I absolutely love this place but it takes me atleast a minute for the page to load everytime i click on a link, sometimes longer. I realize there are literally thousands of people on here at one time, but trying to navigate the wealth of info here with all the lag is driving me crazy. HELP!

I know what you mean. I used to have the same problem, but finally broke down recently and bought a new computer and now everything loads quickly. Guess a six year old laptop is just out of date.

Can you give some details about your PC? How old? What is the operating system? How much RAM do you have? And, do you do any cleanup (maintenance) on it?

I had the same problem for a long time. I tried cleaning everything out at nite when shutting down the computer among other things. Then my 7-8 yr. old computer died about 3 weeks ago. I bought a new computer, and everything is fast now. I guess you could try and reformat your HD, and restore your computer to it's original configuration, and starting over and see if that helps. I don't know if that will help or not, just a thought.

It's a Lenovo running Vista with 4gigs of RAM. Probably around 5 years old. Other than periodically running a full virus scan i haven't done anything maintenance-wise. This is really the only site that is mega slow for me which is why i don't understand the problem.

I'm seeing variable load times throughout the day. Sometimes snappy, other times terribly laggy, frequent timeouts.

Not my computer or our WAN connection -- other external sites, various places around the world, are still loading briskly when ECF is slow.

Hopefully the rework Sarge mentioned in another thread is still in process, supposed to speed at least some things up.

Yeah, took a while. After posting it sunk in. One of those slow days for me.

On my netbook its slow loading. My browser will be unresponsive while the page is loading (20 to 30 seconds). But my pc and tablet have no issues at all and pages load fast in comparison. My phone even out paces the netbook

Netbook and pc using ie8. Using Dolphin on my adroid tab.

I will try this. Every once in awhile when i visit a site i'll get a message saying my browser is outdated and to upgrade, but i didn't think IE8 was THAT outdated. Like i said, i don't experience this kind of lag anywhere else and also understand there are a lot of people visiting this site (which is why i asked if it was me or just the load from so many people on at one time).

While IE8 is old, unfortunately XP users aren't able to upgrade to a newer version. Try Chrome or FireFox.

Switched to chrome, now it's fast.

This was the trick. Guess i could/should upgrade to IE10. I'll have to play around with chrome and see if i like it.

I'm an XP/Chrome user and for the most part the forum is acceptable as far as speed goes. I sometimes experience very slow page loads but that could be due to system upgrades going on at the time.
