Just got home from a six hour road trip... picking up my kid from college... and man am I glad I decided to take my PT... I was tired when I hit the road and vapped almost non-stop the whole way to the college ... and almost as much coming home (had the kid to talk to on the way home so didn't need as much to stay awake)
I used to smoke like a chimney when I drove long trips ... and always ended up with a headache and a very stinky truck .. now that I have my VK ...all is good

The PT with the car adapter worked flawlessly ...In fact ..it almost seemed to work better than on my AC adapter ... no explanation for that one

And it was great watching people drive by doing the double take ...trying to figure out what I was doing ... I would take an extra long drag and fill my truck with vapor every time I saw someone watching ... although I thought a trooper was going to pull me over at one point ...he kept coming up beside me and staring ... I wasn't sure weather to hide it or just keep vaping so he would realize I wasn't hiding anything...I chose the later and he finally gave me a nod ...and flew off down the turnpike ...not sure if he knew what it was or just decided it must be legal since I wasn't hiding it ...almost wish he had pulled me over ...I love explaining my PV to people !!

Anyway ...thanks V4L for keeping me awake tonight ... Now its time to crash ...in bed that is ...not on the road !!!

I love my passthrough even more. Most of my road trips or due to vacations with my wife And 2 kids. not that i would smoke around the kids anyway, but my wife is also an avid nonsmoker. they were getting tired of the 12 hour family trips with dad stopping to smoke evrey hour and a half or more as i got tired. i amnow free with the passthrough and our trips take much less time. cant say i love it enough. the wife even changes out the cartomizers as i drive lol

Im glad you had a safe trip and didnt get pulled over!

Thanks Keyzygirl...I was more worried about falling asleep...getting pulled over actually would have given me a break ... as it was I had to stop at every rest stop ... I got a lot of strange looks when I whipped out my green Xl with the green LED and puffed on the way in and out of all the rest stops ...

you know ...I really did vape almost non-stop on the way up that day ...good thing I dropped my nic down a step ...i would have been bouncing off the walls (car doors) by the time I got there if I hadn't

ok, not for sure what a pass throught is but I order a car charger yesterday, Wouldn't that work as good. Are i'm I missing something here.alot to still learn. But I'm so glad I got me a V4L kit.

The pass-through (actually PASSTHRU i believe) or PT is the cabled "battery" like device that plugs into a usb port (or the car adapter you just ordered)

You will learn quickly as you get hooked like the rest of us ...hope you enjoy your new VK ...happy and healthy vaping !!

I too love my PT for road trips, just wish the cig lighter was on the left side of the dash. Us lefties are always gettin screwed over :D

LOL...I have two lefties in the family ...know what you mean. My kids teacher even tried to get her to write with her right hand in grade school (many many years ago) what a ridiculous idea that was.

Im thinking about hard-wiring a PT into my overhead console now ...If I sell my truck ill just have to sell to an PV user i guess !!

I blew a fuse in my car cig lighter using a PT so now I've ordered a portable USB battery pack...

That really shouldn't happen ...they usually supply an overabundance of power/amps to cig lighters to cover the myriad of devices people plug into them ... do you know what amp the fuse was ... usually labeled on the fuse

You may have had a week fuse also ...it happens ...or a short in the socket of the lighter ...can usually be replaced fairly easily

I have one of the Black and Decker USB/AC power packs and they work fairly well ...but nothing beats the unlimited power supply of a [working] cig lighter/power port

If you want some help with the issue let me know (PM me) ... Im a [retired] Master Auto Tech ... be glad to help a fellow vaper !!

Maybe I had too much stuff plugged in? I have a splitter and was running my GPS as well as the PT and maybe charging cell phone too, can't remember for sure. The mechanic just replaced the fuse and didn't charge me so I don't have any specifics. Maybe it was, like you said, a weak fuse. But really rather not take a chance again.

Today I used the portable USB power pack for the first time -just got it today- and it's really, really nice! $2.99 I think it was plus international mail postage. CHEAP! I got the one Di recommended on the other thread. http://cgi.ebay.com.au/Black-USB-Po...emQQptZBatteries_Chargers?hash=item45e90be552
I'm gonna get some high mAh rechargable batteries for it. Hey, I can even stuff the thing into my purse and walk around vaping my PT. I like it!! :) It was stoopid of me not to order two of 'em. :(

WOW ...that is cheap ... and really compact ...the thing I have has an incredible mAh ratting (not in front of me now but remember it was outrageously high) but it is really bulky ...not something you would want to carry around too much ... Thanks for the info

Guess having all that on one port could be a bit much ..Im luck that way ...my truck has three outlets, all accessible to the drivers seat ... I can have the GPS, phone, and PT on their own port ... of course my truck looks like the back of a entertainment center with all the cables everywhere though ...lol ... the wonderful world of electronics !!

Glad you worked it out ..PTs are great to have in the car!!

MechTechVpr, thank you for your kind offer of help. Unfortunately I don't have any power ports in my car, just the cig lighter. :(

But I do love the portable battery pack although it's nothing fancy. :) Heck, it works just fine with reg AA bats (all I had handy) but won't last long. It still had power left after a 3-hr trip though. But I want the 1000-2300 mAh that I can recharge. Haven't had time to buy any yet.

This little puppy will fit in your breast pocket. Allow about 10-12 days for shipping ($4.99) as it ships reg air mail from China. Vendor is in Australia. :) Total price delivered: $7.98 Can't beat that price...

your welcome bluesuede,
so its made in AU and ships through china ... that is a seriously international product ...

actually the cig lighter/power port = same thing ... Auto manufactures have joined the Anti smoking legions and don't call them lighters anymore (or give you the lighter that fits the socket half the time) but they are the same socket ...different name

I have to seriously consider this adapter though ... although Im happy with my XL batteries when away from my PC/AC adapter...they work almost as well as a PT...but a portable PT sounds good too

Thanks again for the info
