I was just wondering what most size bottles people use in DIY and about how much you make in one sitting.

If your new to diy I recommend using 3-5ml bottles for testing your batches, that way if you don't like it it's not a total waste. I make 10ml when I find a flavor combo I like, I also make multiple flavors batches when testing different flavors. So I would recommend having many different sizes, from 3ml to 30

As Matt says, you will want some small bottles for mixing test batches. I just saved ejuice bottles from vendor juice and used those. You will probably want some different sizes so you can make different batches. Your faves may need the 30 ml bottle and the rest can go in smaller bottles. A variety of sizes is good.

With new flavors I make 2ml single-flavor batches in 3ml bottles, to get the percentage right.

I often drip combinations of those single flavors into a tank or carto to develop recipes. When I hit on one I like, I make a batch in a 5ml bottle to be sure I've got the recipe right.

If it's a winner, I make a 10ml or 15ml bottle and record the recipe. If it's just okay, I scrap the recipe and try to vape the 5ml.

There are a handful of favorites I keep mixed in larger glass bottles, but I vape so many flavors, I usually stick to small bottles.

I make 2-10 batches at a time and mix at least a few times per week. I get cranky if I don't get to mix frequently :)

I'm the same way. To me it calms me while I am doing it lol

I usually do a number of small experiments with 5ml bottles.

When I get closer I do a number of experiments in 15ml bottles.

If I think I have it, I'll make a 30ml bottle.

When I sit down to mix I usually make anywhere from 120 to 480ml in one session.

(If you look hard enough, I'll bet you can find a bottle with juice in every nook and cranny of my house because my bottle supply shrinks but I don't throw any away.)

My test batches are now between 8-10ml (gave all my smaller plastic bottles away to friends with samples in them). I start light on the flavoring and usually adjust flavoring within the sample I make. I find if I start with a bigger size sample, it's more accurate when scaling it up to a bigger size (30ml). Juices I like, I make 30ml, things I really like, I make 120ml. I normally make at least 4 mixes per session and have made as many as 10 (iirc). :vapor:

Cheers,
Steve

I tend to start off mixing single flavor tests in 2 dram vials (5ml juice in 8ml bottles), mixing those together in other vials until I get a flavor combo I like, upgrade that to 10ml juice in a 15ml dropper, and then finally mixing up 30-60ml of any ADV I find. To start off, I'd get 20 small vials and half a dozen 15ml and a few 60ml bottles.

Edit: just because I didn't make it explicit, I use larger bottles than the amount of juice I'm making because it is easier to shake & mix. Pain in the ... to mix 15ml in a 15ml bottle.

Normally I'll just buy 10ml bottles and mix 5ml batches in those for testing purposes. The 5ml bottles are, IMO, useless as they're just too small and more effort to clean than it's worth just to use them again. If a mix is good, it goes into a 30ml. If it's great and one that I'll vape all day, then it goes into a 50ml. Depending on how much stock I have of the flavors needed, I'll make multiple 50ml bottles and store all but one so they can steep/age and be ready when the first once it used up.

Very rarely will I make more than 50ml at once simply due to the time it takes to steep/age larger batches since most of what I vape are creamy/custard like flavors that truly need the time.

This ^^^ for 3ml tests, I use 5ml bottles, 5ml tests 10ml bottles. You need room in the bottle to shake.

I usually make 5ml test batches, 5-10 at a time. For the recipes that have proven themselves, that I love, 30 ml, always have 3-4 to switch back and forth from.

I like a lot of flavors. Although my ADV aren't 'all day', I have 3-4 that I rotate that I consider all day. Then several 10-15ml bottles of others that I like, for a change of pace. Sometimes there is a recipe that you really like, but only in small amounts. Especially really sweet ones that can become over powering when used all day. Or my menthol tobacco flavor.

I need to order more 5ml bottles, I run out of them giving juice away:oops:.
