skill set..........

i think there should be a way to level up the membership quicker by testing out..like a skills quiz where a senior member or someone higher could test your skill level so people that arent noobs but a forced to be noobs untill they post 70 times..like i dont have that much free time..i have coils to build and juice to make you know..any way im jus saying not all of us that register are noobs and i see alot of question out here that higher members post that im not allowed to help them with because im appearing as a trendy noob and cant post..i mean that would be fun if this was call of duty an people assumed i was a noob an i jus continued to melt them with my sub machine gun as i laughed at their inability to properly judge my skill set.but thats not this, an this is not that...so i guess my idea of testing out to level up is nothing but a pipe dream in a far away land with a crack house made from used #400 wire mesh an 22gauge a1 kanthal to to hold it together..well i guess tune in next time when i try an make a tuna sandwhich from a tiny plastic bowl of goldfish an some c4 exposives..:vapor:

Agreed^^^ But help the NooOObbBBbSSssS bra!

im doin what i can,i dont mind helping..my whole point was to be able to everyone not just a small group that could use the search bar (if you dont know about the search bar its near the top right corner) to easily find the answers they seek..(new vapors can type in a key word to the question you have in the search bar located on this site, not the actual google search bar).. chances are your question has already been asked and answered..:2c:

If you were a real expert then you would have passed the smg stage and now would be running around using a sniper rifle doing quickscopes...

The search on this forum is not the best, even if you know what you are looking for it is sometimes hard to find the correct thread (probably due to lack of 'tags' in some threads).

I do agree in a way though about the being labelled a 'noob' or whatever based on join date rather than actual real life experience of vaping. I suppose they could just do a series of multiple choice tests (on various aspects of vaping) and then add stars or 'Mech Test Grade A' 'Ohms Law Test Grade B' etc under your username to enable other forum users to see your skill set.
Just a thought. (would probably have to be timed test due to people just being able to google the answers).

Many people are just not good at using keywords to refine their search, plus you also must understand for a lot of people joining ECF, this is the very first forum they have ever joined.

It only takes 5 posts to post in other forums, not 70.

Personally, I have no problem with folks asking questions that have been asked many times before. As fast as the technology changes they get different answers often. Also, alot aren't even sure what they want to ask with the different lingo we use. Many, including myself, lurk here trying to gain some knowledge for quite awhile before even signing up.

Bottom line, if you don't like answering questions that have been asked before you don't have to.

I answer questions as I can, the only time I get militant and very nasty, is when people are using mech mods, they didnt build, have no idea the coil, and dont even own a simple multimeter. Then.. i lose all respect and gotta say I often treat them very harshly.

Otherwise, I am right behind you, trying to help the people out, cause as you say... often they arent even sure what they are asking.

You don't have to have a super high post count to help out the newbs in the New Member's Forum... if you know the answer, chime in.
I only started here a couple of months ago, but I've been vaping for around 5 years... I answer questions all the time. The thing is, if you don't know what you're talking about, it will quickly become apparent. If you are wrong, don't fight it... take it as a learning experience and move on. You'll gain more respect that way... if you stand your ground, and the ground you are standing is soft, you'll be chastised and ignored in the future. If you acknowledge that you are in error, you might actually learn something that you can pass down later, and you'll be better off for it.

Gah, people get riled up enough about having to make 5 posts. I can't begin to imagine the number of pissy posts there would be if we had to take a test. Lol.

LMAO!!! You are absolutely right, Spaz!! Though hilarity would most definitely ensue!! ;)

As a new member, my only issues with the 5-post requirement are that (a) replies to existing threads don't appear to count as new posts (I don't have any immediate questions of my own at the moment!) and (b) I wish I could post in the vendors subforms to thank a particular supplier for their recent help.

Replies to existing threads were my first 5 posts. It takes a while for the server to update itself, so don't expect an immediate turnaround. I had made about 15 posts before somehow my post count said 5. By now I've probably made more posts than my post count says to the left.
I wish I had something to say about the vendors subforum. I don't buy juice online anymore, as my local B&M has some great flavours and is churning out new flavours at roughly one a month. If pomegranate, acai, peach mango, peanut butter cookie, guavarine (guava nectarine), and pumpkin pie weren't enough for the past few months, I don't know what will be.

"Labels".... who cares?!

Get your 5 posts in and you'll be free to roam and post anywhere you want except for the modding forum. I think you need more than 5 posts to post there but I'm not sure how many are required.

The only thing you don't want is a little star ( * ) by your member status. It means you've riled up the post police.

<<-- Oh look.... there's one right there!
