I don’t know anything, but please don’t use diphenhydramine long term for sleep. You might make sure that you are getting sufficient B12, it’s needed for melatonin production. But really I know next to nothing. But long term Benadryl use isn’t good for your brain.

I get better sleep after switching to vaping than I did when I smoked. It was mostly related to breathing better I think.

But anyway nicotine is a stimulant so getting a lot of nicotine right before going to bed is likely to cause issues sleeping. Just like drinking a couple of cups of coffee will probably do the same.

vaping didn't negatively affect my ability to sleep when I switched from smoking or since. Knowing that I wasn't smoking anymore did relieve some stress though which helped :)

I agree @YorkMan.

I have always been a night owl, hence some of my posting history here at 3'ish am . I have a job that sometimes gets me up at 4:00 am and it can be really hard for me to get to sleep early enough on those days. I use 25 - 50 mg (one or two pills) of diphenhydramine to help me sleep sometimes, but I limit it to once a week with the occasional two hits per week max. Now that's just me, but from the reading I've done on diphenhydramine that's all I'm willing to risk. I don't know if a pill a day will hurt anyone, but from my experience with it I know if I take it two days in a row its 'sleepy' effect is reduced. I think the most important thing is not to keep taking more to keep that effect going. I've read that if you take too much of it for too long you can run into problems similar to the symptoms of Alzheimer's. And that would really suck

Wow . I might stop using Benadryl for anything. I have used it for sleep. On occasion.

My kiddo always freaks out and tells me I might go on a "Benadryl induced psychotic episode" but I don't think so. I mean... .I just go to sleep.

However, perhaps I should end that practice I have enough fears of developing Alzheimer's already. Talk about an illness that you don't want. I have asked the husband for a suicide pact if it happens ,but it turns out he doesn't believe in those. Maybe he will when he is changing my diapers as I call him my kid's name. I REALLY hope so.

The kid might, but I don't want to weight him down with possibilities. Etc.

Did anyone have sleep issues when switching from cigs to vaping? My sleep has been horrible the past few months (quit in May) but I honestly don't know if its a quitting symptom or ifs its unrelated.
No, I actually sleep better. OK, early on I had to watch the amount of nic I was vaping late in the evening; I was using 15-18 mg/ml at the time found that switching to 6 for a couple of hours before bed fixed it, but that became unnecessary after a few weeks.

I never slept well, ever since I was a kid I would typically only get 2-3 hours of sleep a night, and never more than 4-5 hours on my good night. Sometimes I don't sleep at all. Benadryl doesn't make me sleepy, so I can verify that trick doesn't work for everyone.

When I switched from smoking to vaping, I saw no changes in my sleep pattern. But everyone is different, and things can effect everyone in different ways.

I posted a thread similar to this, but specifically about having strange dreams when vaping too much before bed. First off, part of it may be the lack of cigs. Second, it's nicotine for sure (at first it's relaxing, then your mind kicks in and can keep you awake) In my case (the weird dreams) it turns out it was a combination of alcohol and nicotine. Basically, just try to vape a lower nic juice before bed (that way you still enjoy the other pleasures of vaping) I'm low budget, but ideally would like to have at least three tanks with different nic level juices: high nic for morning, medium for all day, and low for late evening. Currently vaping 12 mg juice (started with 18mg when I quit cigs) Don't plan on reducing that except switching to 6 mg before bed. If you have to (ocassionally) good ol NyQuil helps, but just like benadryl, don't use it too often. Eating something (or the warm milk thing) helps too, but if it's spicy, then here come the crazy dreams again.

Maybe OP has multiple vaping session every day and it's easier to absorb much higher nicotine when vaping, it makes OP unable to sleep.

I haven't had a good night's sleep since July 13, 2011, the day my son was born.....
10 more years to go and maybe you can have a good night's sleep again.
