"Sleeper Coil" vs. Two Separate Wires?

Is there really a difference between making the coils out of one wire vs two?

I've been doing the "sleeper" coil builds for the past week and a half or so, and its just a pain in the a.. compared to making two separate ones. I can get them made pretty well after some messing around, but its a hell of a lot quicker making two separate ones.

Is it a matter of conductivity?
I just don't see how it could be much different from two wires in the positive post, assuming theyre sitting side by side and not stacked.

They do seem to fire just a tad quicker (IMO) but ultimately no; it's more of a 'look what I can do' trick.

I still rock them tho. If it's a pain now it will be a piece of cake after ~ 5-6 builds.

yup i thought the same as to the response time But not 100% certain.
i use it whenever i can, it's espeically good with thick wire if you cant normally get two strands in the +post, or for braided, it can be a mare sometimes trying to get two braided wires in the same hole from opposite sides.

1 strand in a terminal vs 2, less heat, i dunno? probably not worth worrying over

I started using sleepers because I was having a heck of a time putting dual 24g in my igow.
I've also noticed at least for me it's easier to match the coils legs so I get them firing closer to the same. But that could be just me

I've been building sleeper coils before I even knew what they were called because they seemed to fire quicker than the standard 2 wrote build.

NEver been able to get a sleeper down, just to small of a space to work with for me.

It is hard to wrap the second coil in a sleeper tight but even sloppy it works better then 2 separate for me because both of the coils always heat up evenly at the same time

Use pliers to pull the wire tight when wrapping the second coil.

I recently built a sleeper setup with twisted 26ga micro coils in a freaking Omega atty and I even got both coils evenly in front of the air holes. Once you get the technique down you'll be doing them in everything, Most of my dual coil atomizers have been converted over to the sleeper style setup, not only does it waste less wire due to snipping the ends off but it does actually perform better.

1 wire vs 2, better connection because you don't have 2 wires touching, you can use larger gauge without worrying about room for that second coil lead, etc.. sleeper would seem the best simple dual coil build option for those that have a proper deck to build them on.

That's kinda where I apparently become removed from the "science".

I have no idea why not having two wires touching makes the slightest bit of difference.

Touché! I'm sure somebody out there can better explain it.
What's your take on why it's not better?

I just don't see any real performance advantage when the only real difference is having two wires attached to the center post, realistically there's plenty of contact with two wires anyway.

Obviously there are other advantages like easier install with small post holes and slightly less wire used etc, but the performance claims are puzzling.
