Just wait until the sloth figures out he has too much cotton in the coil. I'll just say I hope he has access to a HANS device.

 I was going to mention that once he was finished tweaking (e.g., less cotton in the wick; move the coil out a little closer to the rim) his socks would officially be blown off. Ha.

Nice work sloth. I hear Halloran's on his way up to have a vape off your REO. :). Meet him in the kitchen :)

Did you happen to watch a certain movie lately? "Danny, get in here and take your medicine!"

Great write up sloth, you have a way with words.

you guys rock, thanks so much for the warm welcome! thank you! I AM excited! this is what I wanted vaping to be!!!

Ok so someone on the NT forum said i had too much cotton too. I was really dubious because in a tank device, too much cotton = dry hits etc. every hit was perfect. but when I rewicked i did use less, rolled it a wee bit tighter, and cut the tails shorter so they just touch the bottom basically. and, i noticed the vapor production was killer off the bat, didn't need to break in as much, and maybe the flavor is better. HAHA. are you kidding me??? so am i hallucinating or is it just incredibly easier to *not screw it up* but fine tuning the cotton is more of an art, getting the better vape...instead of preventing dry hits and gurgling and leaking and all that stuff. what will moving my coil closer to the rim do?

Um, my one thing I'm not sure about, is i twisted the wire ends and broke them off, i know now i should have bent them upwards with the screws. it was suggested i redo the coil and i planned to today. but by god, it's nothing but perfect and i'd rather wait a couple more days to fiddle with the coil much. is that ok??

and what is a HANS device?

No. I read that book many years ago. And again many years later. Really liked it.

The movie - not so much :)

and what is a HANS device?

Hans Device is part of the safety equipment race car drivers wear. It's a brace that the helmet is connected to that extends down over the shoulders and part of the chest. It protects the neck from whip type injuries in a fast stop. ie impact with wall or another car.

LOL!!!!! well I'm totally down with fine tuning this baby as time goes on!! :D I'll tell ya what thought, I just freakin LOVE how I just put in my third wick aaaand its PERFECT HITS! Every. Single. TIME!!! to think of it getting better is great, but knowing that I'm this capable of producing a working wick each time is magic.

aren't you the one who stepped in and said with a REO i wouldn't have to do all those "gymnastics" like with the kfl?

You did tell me so - and you were right - and gymnastics was the perfect word, i stole it from you for the OP ;)

hmmm yeah...I may take you up on that offer doogie. I'll think about it while i'm on the hike. kind of envisioning a sloth chilling in the alpine zone, gazing at a beautiful sunset while vaping away :2cool: but i'll post over there if i decide to take you up! thanks!

I've already seen some of his handywork i think, on the NT forum - just didn't know who was making them but there's some awesome REO avies out there man!

didn't see if this got answered.

Moving the coil around affects how the air flows around it. The air is going to flow in the hole and then bend up and go out the drip tip.

Closer to the hole usually increase flavor because you're getting airflow all around the coil by placing it in the direct path of the airflow.

As you move it down and farther away from the hole you miss some of the direct flow, so the result is less flavor and mellower hit.

Move coil up to increase throat hit, move down to decrease throat hit.

These are general guidelines and YMMV
