Does anyone know of a smaller sized voltage display than the one sold at madvapes?

I am looking for something that would fit in a tight space. I like the one that MV has but want' about a 1/4 of the size. I am considering just doing a multiple LED indicator but don't want to do all the math and construction to put it together. :p

You could possibly whip together several rectangular LEDs and configure a smaller version of a bar graph LED display. The problem would be the resistors required to configure the on/off voltages would eat up space. For that you could design a two layer PCB to put some smd resistors on the back, but there's no guarantee it would save much space even then.

You're not going to find a display at 1/4 of the size of the one on mv, they simply don't make 7 segment displays that small that I've ever seen. I'd try to find space by reducing the rest of the circuit, by reconfiguring the layout, or redesigning the packaging.

Nice size belialNZ, do you have a driver circuit to go with the segments?

Sorry, no. I found that when considering display options for a Mod, I was planning to use a PIC that had enough spare outputs to drive it. But I ended up deciding to skip the voltage display.

There are plenty of IC's that would be suitable, but for a small space unless you are comfortable with SMT, it may be a problem.

My plan was to use a single resistor and power a single segment at a time at 4mhz from the PIC.

I was toying with an idea.... haven't tried it yet, but maybe someone that has more disposable cash will want to play.....

You know those digital alarm clocks that project a bright lcd image onto the ceiling? The little projector is a small round cylinder about 1/2 " or maybe 3/4" on some of them and would fit in the end of a mod. So you would just "project" the voltage onto the desk/floor/palm at the press of a button. Now, you still need circuitry to display the numbers..... you might be able to use an existing meter but rip out the led/lcd and use the projector/lens as ?x 7-segment display. Would fit in the end of a tube mod. If you put an opaque cap over it when not projecting.... it could be the "cherry" LED too.

Some of those clock projectors are fairly small. Too bad you have to spend the cash on a whole clock just to rip em apart. If you can find the equivalent on mouser or digikey, cool. I didn't have much luck. Oh, and anyone that patients this... I get 10%. :)
