I've been using tube style regulated mods for a while and really want to find a small form factor box mod that is a more discreet. The SVD and Vamo that I currently own are just so damned huge, but I love the 18650 battery life and really want changeable batteries.

I use Aerotanks or iClear 30's at 1.5 - 1.8 ohms. So I don't need a super high wattage device

I really like the idea of the iataste VTR with the tank along the side. They're heavy, but that's not a show stopper. Are there any others out there with that form factor?

Ive looked at the IPV mini and Cloupor mini and they're okay, but having the tank hang out the top kinda kills the discretion. They def have more current chip technology than the VTR though.

Id like to tap into the collective wisdom of the people who post in this group. Any and all input would be deeply appreciated. I'm a veteran vaper (one of the Pioneers, starting back in 2008!) but not a tachnology chaser that much.. Just want a solid device that I can use more discreetly than the giant tube mods

The Cloupor mini is probably the smallest 18650 mod but it isn't available for another 2+ weeks. It also doesn't have buck (step down) power so it will be slightly over powered for your Aerotank and iClear 30. The rDNA 40 is the next smallest device but also about 4 times the cost of what you mentioned ($189.99). It has reverse polarity protection (won't fry if you put the battery in backwards), step down to 3.0v or 1w, can handle .1Ω or higher, temp protection with ni200 wire (Kanger has coils available now) and a magnet to hold the battery door for tool free battery swaps.

I have a VS rDNA 40 and VS DNA 30 and I pre-ordered the Cloupor Mini. I would highly recommend the rDNA 40 based on your needs but it's not cheap. It's definitely worth it as it's a very well made mod.

The Vaporshark rDNA30 is pretty small. Since the DNA40s came out, prices have dropped. I have the rubber sleeve on mine which helps holding it. My fingers easily touch as I hold it. Getting to small can feel "delicate" and it doesn't.

On the lower price in is the MVP20w. It is the MVP2 made a little better. Good power control, too.

rDNA 30 is no longer produced and it doesn't step down so it might be a bit much for his tanks (Aerotank and iClears).

When you receive your Cloupor mini, please let us know what you think of it, as I am pondering getting one.

Thanks for the fast input gys!

The Cloupor mini is for sure the smallest of that style mod at 72mm high. And the price on FT is hard to beat at $36. It'll take a wait to get it of course.

So is the prevailing thought that no one else makes a side tank mount like the VTR? Too bad because that just seems like such a smart design!

Just a quick naive question about what's been said, what is step down and why would that be bad for the tanks I use?

If you order from FT, don't forget to use code: xmas14 for 5% off.

There isn't many side tank mounted mods that are under $200.

Step down for power. If your battery is at 4.2v (fully charged), w/o stepdown, the lowest it will fire is at 4.2v which can burn out your coils in the Aerotank or iClear. Step down circuitry will fire below the battery voltage so you don't burn your coils. You would benefit from step down and something you should look for.

Not quite mini and it doesn't have buck (step down) despite the specs. Great value though.
