Then why bother posting in the modding forum? The best part about this forum is that we can share our inventions.

no need for links until I have results in the form of an actual working atty..maybe I would share the link if people liked the way mine will look..but again I have no atty made yet.

Where did u get that threaded tube?

if you are refering to me, i got these at an Electronics pars supply store.

audio_16.gif
it was labeled as a "1/4" (6.35mm) mono jack to 3.5mm mono plug"

i unassembled the jack, and managed to cut around the threadings with a dremel, drilled it out and fitted it over the base of a CE2...

and in doing so i am able to use the outside casing of the jack connector, without adding length to the base of atty.
like in the very well made RCA version.

:vapor:

PS. I didn't mean to hijack the thread, but i saw the thread title as a challange:D

thanks for creating this thread and giving me the inspiration to make my own creation!

thanks

you would be surprised what you can find in those electronic supply stores...

there is nothing like holding an RCA connector up to my Precise P16 and having the store owner telling me,
"that's not ment to connect to what you got in your hand!"

My second attempt will be made from one of these... for $2, why not....

that is the same one that I was talking about earlier...is it the 8.3mm or 6.3mm?..what would be better for fitting a drip tip on?

edit: size indicated would be the hole where the connection would go anyone know off hand what the size of the connectors are?

the one meatsneaker linked to is a different setup... the threads for the black casing are not on the RCA end... so it has to be built differently.

what i will eventually be doing is, drilling out the cable entry end, and pressure fitting a CE2 within it, then cutting off the excess to utilize the gold portion for its threads.

i messed up on my first attempt and split the goldish colored metal, its alot softer than i thought, so keep that in mind if you plan to use this exact connector.

on the link that meatsneakers posted, you can see the insides of the RCA jack to get a better idea of what i mean.

AND the black sleeve (10.3mm inside) is too wide to accept a 510 tip. i was planning on fitting in a piece of black delrin at the drip tip end to make it accept the drip tip... i know, a lot of work, but i just love the way it would look on the LAVA TUBE.

happy modding! :vapor:

I realize where the threads are since I have been looking at that same jack for 2 days already..but you realize they make it in 6.3mm too so maybe the smaller jack would work better for pressing the 510 mount.

the thread location wasnt directed towards you, was more as a general statement.
the shop that i walked into , didnt have the smaller size, but i will look into it.

looks like I get to spend another day looking for a more unique jack to use again.
i forgot to mention... i apoligize for leaking out your RCA secret, if i knew i wouldnt have posted
