Just tossed one of these together... haven't picked up a soldering iron since high school so getting the posts in was fun, but I got the job done. Excellent how-to meatsneakers thank you!
Great, Thanks Meat! You can use the airholes, but I find I get a better draw from using a larger hole closer to the coil. You can give it a shot without the hole and see how you like it - you can always add the hole later.
I used the parts from a CE2 carto. The tube that runs up the center of a CE2 can be used as the postitive post. I put a 0/80 screw in the top, heated it up and squeezed it around the screw.

Looks much better that way Quigs, I like that shine too. So these are brass with nickel plating?
It wasn't even a nickel plate, it's like they textured it and painted it gray...

I thought maybe aluminium under the paint but it had too much heft to it, then I though steel maybe, screw it, for $3 I chucked it up in my drillpress/lathe and took a file to it...no one was more surprised than me to see solid brass (the base is plated brass but I expected that but the cone?...the package said high quality/heavy duty, seems they were telling the truth...rare
I'm going back there and buying their entire stock...they'er just too good and way to easy to build to pass up...all I need to do now is make pointed copper drip tips
btw, I found a source for perfect heavy needles (6 for $1.50, really?)...on beta v.3 I'll make sure that the eyes of the needles are at the coil then clip off the tip making a little fork...should make building them even easier plus give a truer connection.
You could go Full Metal Jacket too and use brass![]()
