I made a version of the "RCA atty mod" for myself. I'd like to thank Meatsneakers for the great idea. I used the parts from a CE2 carto. The tube that runs up the center of a CE2 can be used as the postitive post. I put a 0/80 screw in the top, heated it up and squeezed it around the screw. Then another tube can be soldered to the case for the negative post. I dont have a bottom feed mod, but I'm thinking because the tube is hollow you could make this a bottom feed atty. You could put a small hole in the tube just below the screw end. I'm using the thick CE2 wick and coil at 2.1 ohms, works great no leaks, and it holds 6-8 drops of liquid.

I didn't have any CE2's to dismantle when I started on this atty but I gave them another shot recently (as a rebuilbable CE2) and have a pile - all VG doesn't wick very well. Should be even easier to get a needle soldered to the pos post with the tube. Thanks for the idea:toast:

btw - the atty I made for the tutorial is still in daily use. Drop it on the floor at least twice a day but still going strong.

Thanks so much for the tutorial meat. Just finished mine using some hh357 parts. Don't have any kanthal or wick yet, can't wait to play around with it more but here it is with a coil from a 1.5 ohm 357 and wick from 2 357s. Hits good and looks good

Here's my attempt...I used these,

3.5mm Stereo Jack Inline - Heavy Duty

for the 510 con I used tank carto cons with the flange, nice and stable, mine are sealed (drip only), 1/32" air hole, I keep everything solid with a carto plug jammed into the base...I've just got ceramic wick in there for now (still in beta testing and didn't want to commit to the full blown ss mesh yet) so far, with a 1.7 ohm coil on about 4 cm's of wick (holds about 12 drops before it gurgles the air hole)...as soon as I vaped it I thought, you've got to be kidding me!, where were you about $300 in atty's and carto's ago...lovin' it...great, great idea Meatsneakers

Does the wire come into contact with the stainless base? looks pretty close.
You make the parts on the lathe yourself?
Its beautiful. I want one!
I think I remember wanting to buy your rca atty off you awhile ago on the classifieds before i made one myself and you saying that you could do something for me after your eye got better....
nudge nudge
Kidding aside, very nice work impressed.

Looks much better that way Quigs, I like that shine too. So these are brass with nickel plating?

It wasn't even a nickel plate, it's like they textured it and painted it gray...

I thought maybe aluminium under the paint but it had too much heft to it, then I though steel maybe, screw it, for $3 I chucked it up in my drillpress/lathe and took a file to it...no one was more surprised than me to see solid brass (the base is plated brass but I expected that but the cone?...the package said high quality/heavy duty, seems they were telling the truth...rare:confused:

I'm going back there and buying their entire stock...they'er just too good and way to easy to build to pass up...all I need to do now is make pointed copper drip tips

btw, I found a source for perfect heavy needles (6 for $1.50, really?)...on beta v.3 I'll make sure that the eyes of the needles are at the coil then clip off the tip making a little fork...should make building them even easier plus give a truer connection.

Or keep the eye whole. It would give a nice start and end point to wrapping. Dan made the micro-G with the eye end of a small needle that is free spinning and you can wind it up at the end, quite handy. Still I like my pins and needles best.

You could go Full Metal Jacket too and use brass :)
