Hey, so I have this almost brand new smok al 85 and when I put a fully charged battery in it it registers at less than 50% already. I use an Efest 3000mAh 35A 3.7v battery. I don't charge the battery through the mod.

I've tried the battery in my girlfriend's mod and the battery is fine showing it as full, but when I put it in my smok AL85 it shows it as super low from the start and it doesnt last very long at all.

Anything that can fix this?

Welcome to ECF, @Brass67 !

First and foremost, that is probably an overrated battery. I don't believe there is such a thing as a 35A 18650 battery, let alone with 3000mah. If that particular battery is only putting out 10 or less amps, the AL85 may not be particularly happy with that and letting you know. May or may not cause or contribute to your problem, but would highly suggest an authentic, quality battery from a know/approved seller and try it in your AL85. And get one (and maybe a couple spares) for your girlfriend as well! I'd also be curious what mod she is using? Check out the "Batteries and Chargers forum for information on batteries for vaping.

In the meantime, check to be sure all the battery contacts are clear and clean. You also might mention what topper you are using and at what wattage. I've read of others having that or very similar problems, but don't recall any specific fixes. And can't discount a possible defect in the mod. But get some good batteries for whatever you and your girlfriend end up using!

Good luck and update us on how it is going!

I totally agree with everything OlderNDirt said. Here is a link to your that our resident guru has tested.
Efest Purple 35A 3000mAh 18650 Bench Test Results...only a 20A battery, equal to HG2 and 30Q though

I depend on Mooch as a resource for all of my knowledge of batteries. If you scroll to the bottom on any of his postings you like find a link to all the batteries he has tested.

With all that said, I would try another different kind of battery in your mod first. Then I would contact the vendor where I purchased the mod and ask for a replacement or a refund. Most vendors has some sort of recourse for a mod that doesn't work correctly.

Good luck and let us know.

:)
