Smok Alien query.

afternoon all,

Long time vaping, first time posting.

Recently upgraded to a smok 225 mag. Before I was just using my Alien. Really enjoy the alien but since going back after using the mag kit, I find the taste just not what it use to be?

I mean it’s like it’s no where near as good as I use to find it. I’m sure it’s because the coil in the mag kit is just so much better, just wanted opinions if anybody else had this issue after upgrading?

I thought I burnt a brand new coil on the alien after using a flavour that tasted amazing in the Prince tank to just find it tasted almost disgusting in the alien.

Yea I know, reason I’m trying to use both is the mag drinks juice like it’s going out of fashion.

Just amazed at the difference I’m finding in between the tanks in regards to flavour

Well there’s your flavor improvement right there. Maybe try a different coil or atomizer that isn’t so thirsty. That or the other common solution which is learn to DIY juice. Thirsty tanks aren’t quite so annoying when a 60 of juice costs $5 instead of $25

Yea I know your right,

I guess I just didn’t notice before as I said the alien was fine before now just going back seems a big difference in flavour.

I do like the Prince tank but as you said it’s thirsty.

I have an Alien with the Big Baby Beast and I have a Mag with the Prince and like them both.......with certain juices. Some juices work well in one and not so much in the other. Then there are a couple juices I have and like that just plain go better in my Kanger Subtank or Aspire Atlantis, so it stays there. So yes, IMHO flavors/juices can just be better in a certain tank.

Good news is, you have two options for testing what flavor works better in each. Bad news is, it is up to you how many options you want to explore in search for your favorite vape. There are a whole lot of choices available.

Glad it’s not just me, generally thought I’d burnt out a fresh coil, changed out the flavour and was good to go.

As you have both mods I do what lifespan do you get from coils?

I run the t10 in the prince and found lasted me till about 700 puffs. Then I read about hitting it hard and last longer?

Q4 in the Prince is the worst coil ever, the drop of compared to the t10 is shocking. Q4 has no throat hit what so ever.

I run too many tanks each day to have a good number for how long each coil lasts. I may really like a vape one day and stay with it for 4 - 6 hours, then not hit it the next cause something else is suiting me better. I just never concerned myself with counting how many hits or how much juice I ran through one coil. Generally speaking, I expect at least a month for a coil and sometimes go 2 months or longer. But I figure that tank has a juice I am not quite as fond of, so hitting it less (maybe even a lot less). My best rough guess would be around 60 - 75 hours on a coil figuring 2 - 2.5 hours a day for 30 days (5 days or there abouts if only using one vape). I should mention too, I run all my coils just a bit below the low end of their "best at" suggestion.

I prefer the X6 or T10 coils, probably a bit of preference for the T10. As I mentioned, I tend to stay at a lower wattage, so have only gone as high as 86 watts with the T10 and backed it down around 76-78 watts.

Juices, in my experience, tend to like certain wattages-- more correctly, certain heat profiles-- better than others. I would not be surprised if this wasn't the case with your juice. If you had (have) several juices you like, you may very well find one you like better in the other tank. Welcome to the board.

You will find different tanks give off very different flavors even using the same juice. There are so many variables at play: airflow wattage, tank design, etc.

The Uwell crown series of tanks are reported to give more flavor and have coils in a wider range. It's gotten consistently good reviews on the forum. You may find you can get great flavor with a less "thirsty" tank.

I was going to say the same thing. Pink lemonade is a good example of this. I find if you run it too hot, it starts tasting like lemon rinds.

Thanks, been vaping on and off for a few years so have some sort of idea about vaping.

With the rbas I’ve always heard good things, but seems like a lot of hassle

That's exactly why I stick with stuff that likes heat. Deserts, certain fruits, etc. with my mechs, and run everything else in my tanks. You need that control to get the best hit from a juice.
