A bit, but then I traded it for a Geekvape Eagle. Just not into sub-ohm tanks anymore, RDAs, RDTAs, and RTAs, are cheaper to build on instead of buying coils. I know the eagle has prebuilt coil heads, but at least I can clean and rewick them. :)

I've already had my puff counter go all the way around on my alien.. just loving it!

Just had a MutationX v5 leak down inside of the contact screw of it's 510 post of the deck right down into my mod. Vape shop was kind enough to replace my mod and swap out the atty. They didn't have my mod in stock, so it was replaced with a Smok Alien and a Limitless Plus tank. I'm having trouble getting TC to perform. I use 316L SS, I've already tried the TCR of 92 that's listed here but it doesn't get me anywhere. The temp hits hard on the outset with what I can only guess is the preheat, but afterward, it drops off to nothing then slowly ramps back up and either completely underheats the coils or scorches all hell out of them.

I've tried it with the strength at various settings, and no change. I see that others in here use SS 316 with no issue. What am I missing here?

How many watts did you set your TC for? I know some folks will just set it to whatever the max wattage is and "let the TC" handle it, but usually it's better to set it to some reasonable amount relative to your build (say 40W on a 0.5 ohm build) and see if you hit temp protect mode. Set it too low of course, and it will never get to the set temp. It should result in a smooth vape when working. I'm using it in TC right now with a 0.3 ohm 326L notch coil, 40W 470F.

Mine's reading .264, and what math do you use to reach that conclusion so that I don't have to keep coming back here for a new calculation? You're the first person I've seen mention that bit about setting the wattage. I generally use dual coil builds of around .24 to .26.

Before your post, I had tried it at 80, 125, and max wattage, it never behaved any differently. Hard hit at the beginning for about half a second, then stopped completely and started a slow ramp up to temp, then backed off. A lot like the XCube II was known for doing, only this is nowhere near as smooth or predictable.

I haven't been overly impressed with the Aliens SS316L TC performance compared to my other mods with the same tank. It hasn't been as extreme as your examples though, just a little off from being right. I have been a lot more impressed with it's TC performance using SS304.

It could be you have a bad connection somewhere on your tank, the only thing I can think of that might cause those problems. Are your ohms stable or ate they jumping around at all?

Left it at the default of 105 to start with, then changed it to .88 because that was always a good one for stainless on my Cuboid before the Mutation Xv5 decided to drown my mod through the middle of the 510, after that I came here and saw that 92 was working for some, tried that with no change in the behavior of the mod, even tried 100 and no change.

This crap is getting old fast.

Well, still can't get the Limitless Plus tank to work well on it, the mod just doesn't seem to like it, but maybe I can keep fiddling with it and dial that thing in. One thing I've learned while playing with the settings and talking with you guys is that this thing is no different than the XCube II in that you have to play with BOTH the TCR AND the Adjust Ohm's setting in order to dial this blasted thing in. Got my Doge V2S to work, finally. Sadly, that worn out atty is what started all this. Bought the Mutation Xv5 that killed my Cuboid to replace that blasted thing.

Edit: Can't believe I forgot to mention that yes, lowering the wattage helped immensely with stabilizing the performance as well. You gotta get all three dialed in together, Resistance reading, TCR, and Wattage. Crazy

Sorry, that's the one thing I forgot to mention. The newest, 1.2.2, maybe that was my mistake.
I also updated the firmware from 1.2.1 to 1.2.2. With the new firmware I have the same problems as you mentioned. TC under the previous version was much 'smoother'. I have to cranck up the temp to 250°C, with the old firmware 210°C was OK. I already regret my update.

I should mention when I said a 0.3 ohm coil that was with a Super tank and their notch coil, not the baby beast. So far the Alien has been reading the resistance of my coils well. One thing I do is force it to recognize a new coil to avoid any errors when swapping or even just reseating a tank. I press the fire button without a tank on to get the No Noil message, then always get the new coil Y/N prompt after and select Y for a fresh resistance reading. As always, assure your coil is really at room temp before setting the resistance, otherwise TC gets all messed up regardless of device.

Glad you finally got it settled. Yes, resistance, the correct TCR, and a reasonable wattage setting are all needed for good Tc performance.

Seems I only THOUGHT I had it settled.

I think these Chinese manufacturers get a kick out of selling us trash that barely works. This thing has turned out to be so touchy that I can't go through temp mode settings to adjust one thing without manually confirming every setting there is, otherwise, it throws me from SS to Ni and I'm wondering why I'm burning all hell out of my wick. At this rate, I'd be better off inhaling the smoke from cigs because who knows what I'm breathing when I burn cotton or rayon because that crap gives me a headache every time it hits my lungs.

Maybe the FDA will help them get the lead out. I'm not a fan of regulation by any means, but these guys need to be reminded how to do proper business. I mean, when a company's slogan for a new product is "Better than you expect", WTH are we doing?

If you upgraded to the newest version, I would suggest to try and get the original one you had back. You may have to totally wipe the device's memory to do so. If the updater gives you an option for a version, I'd leave it blank first(to erase the memory)then reupdate again with the version it came with.
just my 2 pennies.

Been looking for a copy of 1.2.1, but that's a good idea. I'll see if it will give me an option to go back.
