I bought mine a month ago £80 including tank. The silver paint finish on the mod has TOTALLY WORN off where my thumb and fingers gripped - also on the black button. It's clearly not damage from being dropped (a chip or scratch).

This is a "high-end" mod, designed to be held and gripped - so much wear (and so soon) is clearly unacceptable. I don't have acid sweat or sandpaper (rough) hands and older mod still OK (Innoken Coolfire IV). Is this a known issue? Is it just silver or all colours?

Seen a lot of negative feedback about this mod - mostly electronics and display issues (not much about paint wear - casing seems a bit "delicate" and easily damaged from what I read).

Welcome to the forum. I'd read of paint issues with the Alien but hadn't seen any on the GX350 until now. But then I didn't research the GX350 before I bought my first GX2/4. The paint is very different on the GX2/4, more like a glazed clear coated automotive type finish. Only have my GX2/4s 2 months now but no signs of paint wearing. The only wear noticed is the SMOK name/logo above the display, it did wear off. Go figure.

Finding a mod that doesn't show wear is difficult. Juice seems to be a great paint remover. The best luck I've had is with the silver aster. It took over a year to show wear.
I did get a wismec pressa in black that wore off quickly and I went after it with a Dremel to remove the rest of the paint because it looked so bad. What I discovered is the whole thing is cast aluminum. Even the buttons. This left me with a nice brushed aluminum finish which is going to take a lot of time to wear.

I have some non-Smok mods that their finish seems unduly effected by the ejuice. It seems to soften the paint making it really easy to rub and scratch off. But hey if your GX-350 is still otherwise working consider yourself lucky. My G320's screen went in the first 20 hours of use.

It seems to me that the more bells and whistles that manufacturers add to new gen devices, the less time and effort they have to insure that the dang thing does what it's really intended to do.

To an extent I agree with that. However I will also say the new GX2/4 model has performed flawlessly as advertised so far 2 months. (all four of the ones I have anyway)

Welcome and glad you joined.
Thanks for the heads up. The more of us whom inform each other about manufacturer's, the more we will all know. I wish there were more new members who would expose rip offs like yours when they perceive a slight.

Mine isn't having any of the problems other people are having whats happening with mine is that its freezing so I can't take a hit nor can I change the wattage or turn it off I have to open the batter door for it to turn off then when I turn it back on I'll take one hit and it freezes again as for the paint I've had mine for like two months and nothing has worn off I have the gold and black one

Does it vape okay without the battery door?

You might try to find a silicone sleeve or vinyl skin wrap to cover your mod. Protect your investment.
