After the Nord 2 40W and the Nord X 60W, smok skips the Nord 3 and goes directly to the Nord 4 80W.
The latest version of the popular Nord range comes in two different versions, one with a molded body (standard series) and the other with a cowhide finish (leather series).

The mod with the increased power to 80W uses an increased 2000 mAh battery which is recharged via the USB Type-C port.
A great improvement is the introduction of the AFC, even double with independent adjustment, also in the kit are included 2 Pods that allow you to use both the RPM and the RPM2 Coil.

The packaging shows the front; the main features in the form of an icon, the image of the Mod, the name of the product (Nord 4 80W kit), the name of the brand (Smok) and the color of the sample contained within the package (Red Gray Armor).

On the back are shown; the content, usage warnings, logos & brands.

On the remaining parts of the package are present; the addresses of Shenzhen IVPS Technology CO., LTD, a hologram, the scratch & check, a barcode and the invitation by Smok to check the authenticity of the product to take advantage (if necessary) of the after-sales guarantee.

At the moment there are 8 color variants (standard series) + 4 additional colors (leather series).

First impressions:
I received the "Standard" model (Red Gray Armor).
Compared to the first Nord-2 model, the dimensions have increased, however Smok has not changed the original form factor, the Pod is manageable and stands upright with good stability.
What I was pleased to see applied to the Nord 4 project was two adjustable AFCs and a really large battery (2000mAh)

The frame is covered with superstructures in acrylic and mirror polished metal, the texture of the panels recalls the skin of snakes.
On the one hand starting from the top, they are visible; the AFC ring, the Fire button, a Qr-code and the writing Smok.

The rectangular fire button is backlit in white and also performs notification functions.
- when the battery is low, the LED flashes 15 times (Battery Low)
- during switching off / on the led flashes 3 times GoodBye)
- if the resistance is lower than 0.3Ω, the LED flashes 4 times (Ohms to Low)
- if the resistance is equal to or greater than 3.0Ω the led flashes 4 times (Ohms to High)
- if the cartridge is not present on the battery, the LED flashes 4 times (No Atomizer)
- if the battery is short the led flashes 5 times (Atomizer Short)
- if the shot exceeds 8 seconds, the LED flashes 5 times (Time Over)

On the other panel are present; the other AFC ring, the words "Nord 4 2000mAh", the disposal logo and the C E mark.

The 0.69 "OLED screen is surrounded by a dark colored frame which also contains the adjustment keys (+) and (-).
The screen shows: the set power, the Ohms of the Coil, the Volts, the percentage of remaining battery charge and the number of Puffs.

On the opposite side there is a dark colored frame with a purely ornamental function.

The compartment / pod is held to the mod by two French screws, on the bottom there are the two contact pins, the floor that surrounds them seems to be designed to be hermetic, in a raised position there are 4 powerful circular magnets.

The support base of the mod incorporates the Type-C charging socket.

The Nord 4 80W Kit comes with two pods with a capacity of 4.5ml each.
Both the RPM2 and RPM Pods mirror the Pod compartment and thanks to the design and their precise conformation they fit perfectly with the Mod.

The Pods thanks to the large transparent surface ensure great control over the level of the liquid inside them.
The refill is quite easy, the rubber pad is marked in the opening direction and the hole below is of adequate size for most dispensers on the market.

A practical "press and pull system" is provided for the insertion of the Coils. The RPM2 cartridge (left in the photo) has a specific insertion / coil hole, larger than that of the RPM cartridge.

Depending on the Pod used, it is possible to house RPM 2 coils or the classic RPM Coil.

Also the new Nord 4 Kit uses the Coil RPM2 Meshed 0.16Ω 25-50W with Best at 40W introduced with the Mod Scar P3.
The other Coil available in the Kit is a classic RPM Mesh 0.4Ω Best 25W, no range indicated.

The 0.16Ω RPM2 is a coil with a really flexible use, aromatically valid and incredibly able to work perfectly at only 25W / 30W.
I must say that the first time I tried it on the Scar P3 I was surprised.
Respecting the Best of 40W that Smok indicates for this Coil, its behavior becomes optimal, the steam production is very high and dense clouds of steam are produced.
The steam is hot with smooth puffs like oil, it works well with both 50/50 and 70/30 liquids.

The Coil RPM Mesh 0.4Ω 25W was introduced at the time of the RPM40. Also this coil has a flexible use, at the indicated "best" of 25W, the efficiency is optimized, the steam production is satisfactory, the DTL puff is of the restricted type and the aromatic yield is discrete.

No particular problem with the production of condensate, Smok and its coils are among the best in this respect.

By adjusting the two opposite and independent air-flows, it is possible to choke the incoming air at will with enormous advantages compared to a fixed system.
In addition, the large availability of RPM coils allows everyone to find their own preferred vaping mode.

How Smok Nord 4 Kit works:

- Five clicks on the Fire button to turn the device on / off.
- Three clicks on the Fire key to lock / unlock the device.
- During the vape the time of the last puff is shown on the display for a time of 0.5s, before returning to the default setting.
- With the Mod unlocked it is possible to adjust the wattage from 5 to 80W using the up / down keys arranged under the screen.
- The number of puffs is automatically reset when it reaches the limit of 999.
- When the device is charging, the display shows the current charge status and the remaining time to complete the operation.

The built-in 2,000mAh battery seemed to me to have excellent durability even using it at a constant 40W, at 40W I managed to do 204 Puff.
Furthermore, the battery is quite quick to recharge, for a full charge cycle it takes about 80 minutes.

Final Conclusions:

Although I am not particularly fond of Pods, I must admit that this new Nord 4 Kit is comfortable and has potential thanks to the large availability of coils and two independent and fully adjustable AFCs.

Surely it will also be appreciated by those who want to buy the RBA base and want to dedicate themselves to regenerations, without giving up an excellent level of safety protections and a very good liquid capacity of its 4.5ml cartridges / tanks.
