smok RDA premade coils and atomizer

so i made the plunge into rebuildable and started cheap.

smok RDA the teenty tiny one.
pictures make it look big, its not its about as thick as a mans pinky and shorter than the middle knuckle to tip of pinky.
it works and its nice to have an increase in flavor over premade systems.
along with extra vapor.

the coil i got only lights up in the middle and is very loosely wrapped.
only 2 wires are lighting up which to me says its shorting??? or just bad wire ?? i dont know i have no experience with hand made stuff outside of videos and here.

the biggest issue is that i bought a 5 pack of premade smok rda wick/coils and they came pretty much useless.
coils are crazy loose. and either smashed together or way spread apart up to over 1mm between wires.
one even came with the kanthal wire broke at the pigtail point. so i would have to wrap more of the longer pigtail to get a useful amount on the broke end.

i might be able to salvage 1 but have not tested it but the others are shot. loose, or smashed together.

so my question is,,, is this normal or is myfreedomsmokes, where i got these, making these and they just completely botched the job and they should send me good working ones.

Premade coils, in my experience, are usually junk. Why did you want an rda if you're just buying prebuilt coils?

I wasnt going to dive into this . I wanted to start slow. I find with this tiny ittle rda I am having to drip too often. Maybe I will pick up one that has a well in it so I am not having to drip too often.

The Igo-L is a good starter rebuildable dripping atomizer. It's just under an inch (bigger around than an ego sized battery) at the base and about 3/4 of an inch high, without the driptip. It has a small well to hold liquid in. I don't have a large wick and mine holds about 8 drops, some people say theirs hold 10 to 15. I got mine here, https://www.litecigusa.net/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=IGO-L-drip-atom. If you get one, just make sure the air hole is lined up with the coil or you get a wicked harsh hit. Make sure to use youtube to get an idea about coil placement and different wicking ideas.

So to answer part of your original post, myfreedomsmokes is a reputable company, and I think if you put in a ticket on their site they would tell you what can be done. Give that a try and let us know how it goes.

If you wanna start re building, I would re build protank coils or something. Pre made coils aren't always the best choice, unless you have a friend make them for you until you get the hang of it. Although a drill bit (less than a few dollars) and 50 ft of kanthal (less than 10 dollars) and an hour or two of your time practicing (if that), is well worth it rather than spending the money on pre built coils.

i'll go with this. i get premade coils with wicks from half a dozen vendors including from china and they all work fine.

I've had mine for about a month and i paid less than $6 for it. It was my first dripper and wanted to see what all the dripping fuss was about. I like it, I mean for the price come on guys. I use it when I'm trying different juices, coil it, wick it, drip and you're good for about a dozen toots. Rinse, re-wick, try another juice and repeat the process. Works for me this way and the flavor is ok. I use micro coils and KGD cotton.

Pre-made coils for the Smok drippers are pretty dismal, I'll agree. However you can get decent ones from China, here's a FastTech link, you want either the single wick or 4 wick versions, I'd get the single ones. The squid doesn't need NR-R-NR wires which these are but they work just fine, cost is about a nickel a wick. You can even get them without wick if you want to use cotton or some other wick material.

those are nichrome, aint that the cheap Chinese stuff that we shouldnt be using ??

There's nothing wrong with nichrome, it's just that Kanthal is a bit easier to work with. Slightly less resistive so it'll be thicker, hence easier to use, than nichrome for a given resistance.
