Smok Tech DCC Tank Question/input

Hello all... I am doing a bit of research for some friends that are looking at the Smoke Tech DCC tanks and I was looking for some answers to some questions I have about them. My friends not really noobs to vaping but noob to anything other than a 2 piece pen style pv are upgrading to a VV mod and have interest in this tank. Forgive me if my questions have been asked before and post the appropriate link to get answers to said questions. Thanks in advance to all who answers.



I have one main question and a few secondary questions to be precise....

In looking at the Smoke Tech DCC tank I see that the DCC's have a flange on then... Is this a must? is my main question...

What is the purpose? What other cartos will work with this tank?

Also I noticed the pre drilled cartos have a single hole in them to feed. I read/saw in a vid a second hole was recommended... What is best? Is the hole big enough (looks tiny)?

BTW VV mod will be a Lavatube... Well aware of the 2.5amp cut off and higher ohm DCC's will be needed... Just looking to give some options to the $3 predrilled DCC's Volcano is offering...

what's the purpose of the flange? I'm not quite sure, I've been just punching a hole in a regular DDC, the thing I find about them when I punch my own cartos is they easily over wick and I use 100% vg so I started just scoring a carto with a dremel and use a 18 gauge needle to punch the hole so it's smaller. but with my regular carto tanks they don't seem to over wick no matter how many holes I have.

I think the flange is to prevent from sliding down...

Main concern that not having this would create other problems like leakage...


I just want to give them the best info too not create more of a headache for myself since they come to me for answers. This place overwhelms them a bit....

yes I have the same tank except I got it from a different site that sells it for $8.99 and I have a regular 2.5ohm DCC carto in it that I punch myself but madvapes sells them cheaper if you don't want to deal with punching it yourself Cartomizers they're like 2.29

Just came to mind about the ease or lack of on changing out the cartos with the flange or ring thingy (what ever you call it) on these tanks. I have J tanks myself and use Boges I just over lap and push through. Whats the best way with these to swap out a dead/used carto...

You don't have to used the flanged cartos. You can use any stainless steel XL carto, like the DC or resurrectors. I'm sure there are others. Personally, I prefer Boge cartos, which I punch myself. I simply cut the tube down, and all is good. I have had no problems "hot changing" cartos with this tank by sliding a new one in while pushing the old one out.

I'm not crazy about the dual coils eaither. Yep, put a dowel inside the tube so it doesn't collapse and break due to the pressure of the cutting. Go nice and slow with the tube cutter, making sure you get a straight line. Tighten the tube cutter a bit more everytime you go around.

Pipe cutter will work but you should put a size smaller of tubing or a dowel inside the tank to keep from breaking/cracking it....

kabonk - what head do you use on your dremel to "score" the tank? Do you just "rough it up"? I'm not sure what you mean, but would like to try it ....

I would rather use the single coil boge steel cartomizers in this thing but the ones I have are too short. Is there a longer version? Like the same size as the dual coils? if so, where?

and another tip when cutting poly is to put some masking tape onto the poly so you dont scratch it.
