Why would someone drop $177+ for a first device that vapes EXACTLY the same as a $55 device? Don't give me the PWM BS. ... does every single device recommendation thread have to devolve into a "GET TEH PROVARI NOWZ" thread? The OP said she doesn't have the money to spend on a GD Provari! It doesn't matter how great it is. It doesn't matter if, in the long run, it's a better value than device X. She said "SHE DOESN'T HAVE THE MONEY"! FFS!

Somebody needs their morning coffee or a vape. Wow!!

No one here was pushing a Provari as the OP's only solution. She did after all express interest in buying one.

I suggested a few less expensive mods before bringing up a Provari. I believe my point if you could afford $180 in cigarettes a month you can afford a $160 Provari is a valid one.

Yes, a Provari is expensive relatively speaking. But you usually have to pay more for something of quality and including a warranty. How many Provari owners remark that they wish they had just bought one at the very beginning? The vast majority have said this, in effect saying doing so would have saved them hundreds of dollars that was spent on cheaper mods which failed way before their owners' expectations.

And YOUR point that a Provari vapes EXACTLY the same as a $55 device is YOUR OPINION. I and many others CAN tell the difference, and that is OUR OPINION. Just because YOU can't tell the difference doesn't mean squat. There are multiple threads on ECF debating the difference between the 33.3 Hz vs 800+ Hz PWM chips, and I posted a link to one which was applicable to this subject matter. Let's let the OP decide what she wants.

In the end, the OP will do more research and decide what she can reasonably afford given her options.

Thank you. Not trying to start anything. Half the fun of vaping is the conversation here and the learning.

Ruet.... Thanks for your value added reply!!! Nobody told her to by a Provari. I was merely pointing out that the cost of the batteries, charger, and attys are gonna cost alot more than the SID and if she was going to get a provari someday she might want to make sure her purchases are wise. At the end of the day its not my money or my choice. Some of us are just trying to keep her from wasting money and buying things twice.

Thanks Ruet. Yeah, if I had the money there would be NO QUESTION, I'd just go out and get a Provari. But with this being my first go round with vaping I just can't seem to justify spending that much right off the get go. But I wish I could!

Get your sister to buy a provari, give the sid to you, try her provari, decide to buy a provari anyway. See where this is going? Get what you need right away.

Ha ha. She actually doesn't have a sid. She has some clone (of what I don't know) from fasttech. It doesn't have variable anything either. When I tried it though, I as impressed with the amount of vapor it produces and could see myself easily getting off my wayyyyy too many years cigarette habit this way. I've smoked for way to long for being as young as I am. She was never a diehard smoker like me, but nothing else has worked for me yet so I'm willing to try anything.

The MVP has more features and costs a fraction of the price of the provari (in the UK.)

I can get four days out of the battery and it's solidly built. You may go on to buy fancy gear in the future but anything can fail - having one of these means you've always got something you can chuck in your bag for emergencies.

Other PVs in this price range all seem to have pretty major flaws in design and construction, you can't beat the MVP - for the money. You don't need to buy a charger or batteries either.

Although I may change my mind later, I don't think I'd like a box mod. BUT that is a great point about having it as a backup or on the go, something I really hadn't considered, so thank you!

You can get a SID and batteries from Mister-E-Liquid. Silver and purple are the only options listed on their site but IIRC they had some other colors available in-store when I was there on Saturday. ...if you wanted to drive over and pick one up. They have a ton of hardware in-store and all of their juice is available to sample as well. Well worth a day-trip IMO.

Smok Tech SID from Mister-E-Liquid
Panasonic NCR18650B from Mister-E-Liquid

The battery I linked to lasts me 1.5-2 days in my SID and fits just fine. As far as the SID goes; I picked one up on Black Friday last year and it has worked, pretty much, without issue. The only thing I have run into is that if knocked over the + battery post insulator can get pushed out of position and needs to be pushed back in place.

That's another thing I hadn't considered, going to a vape shop. Me being from Flint, I'm sure there has to be at least a couple! I just never thought about doing that. Good idea. Do they let you try them out there and things like that?

This is stressing you isn't it kateress?

If you are holding back because the SID seems too risky, what with buying the mod, batteries and charger, why not go simple and fuss free.

If you are using mini/midi clearomizers, why not get an iTasteVV off the internet for $28. It'll show you the way forward.....

I use mine all the time... far more than my SID if you consider what I vape on 9-5. :)

Yeah, I can definitely see that. I was just explaining to someone how in a way it does almost make more sense to go ahead and buy it to avoid the risk of a cheaper one breaking down on you over and over. I can see how before you know it, you already spent as much as you would on buying a Provari in the first place. Too bad they don't have payment plans, lol.
