I have a Smok SiD that I've been using for about 2 months. Overall, I've been happy until 2 days ago with the following setup:

Smok SiD
Vision Vivi Nova 2.5 currently with a 1.8 ohm head
Efest IMR 18650's and 18350's
various juices with 50/50 VG/PG blend

Here's my problem...two days ago I started getting a long lasting "short" error code from the SiD. I've changed heads in the Vivi, didn't seem to help. I've blown compressed air through the "tower" of the Vivi to be sure there was no juice in it, wiped the connection on the Vivi as well as the SiD to be sure there was nothing there that could cause the problem. cleaned all the screw threads on the SiD to make sure they were getting good contact. Drained the juice, switched batteries, and reassembled it several times. then the error went away, worked for about a day, and then returned. I'm at work right this minute running on an old V2 passthrough until i can find out what's going on. I've searched the forums, but not much out there other than pulling up the center pin on the SiD which I've done. Right this minute it's still reading the "short". The current head is a 1.8 ohm, but it happened yeserday on a 2.4 ohm as well. I haven't nutted the tank down, since I'd head they wouldn't fit flush. I've always tightened the tank to be sure I had electrical contact, and then, while holding the tank, I've unscrewed the tapered cap of the SiD, using it as a lock ring, until it supported the tank.

Any ideas on troubleshooting? I'm a little miffed at this...I'd been using V2 cig-a-likes, but wanted something better. This SiD was good, but if it has a lifespan of two months, I'll be .........

Thanks,

I get it from time to time. It's not the SID itself, just a problem with the connection.

What I do know is that it won't be coil* in the atomizer, unless you have a rebuilt head with a genuine short. It could be the base* or the centre pin on the SID itself.

Try not to panic. We've all been there... it's not permanently fubar.

I disassembled and reassembled about 5 times at work. Pulled the center pin up, wiped everything off/down, and checked the tank. Unfortunately it's my only tank right now and my other stuff is all 808 connectors. I came home at lunch, switched batteries, and it's back to working. I just don't understand how a battery can cause it to read as a short. I put the battery back on the charger...I'll take it out of rotation to see if I keep having problems, and if its just that battery. I hate that it's leaving me "stranded without knowing why. I guess I'll keep carrying an 808 "backup" until I know why.

Thanks!
