So, once I struggled to open my Smok tfv4 tank the other day, I found the oring had melted. The oring seemed like it had melted on the top section of the tank. I tried to replace the oring, but then I couldn't get the tank back together.

My question is this: do the botttom and top sections of the tank both have orings where the glass is? Or does just the bottom? I've done a lot of searches. I removed the entire melted oring, so why can't I get the tank back together?

Both ends of the glass use seals, the top is a black (usually) o ring, the bottom seal depending on which version you have is either a clear more flat seal or a white seal that has a lip/chamfer/ridge (whatever you want to call it).
The older v1 uses the clear more flat bottom seal, newer versions use the white lipped seal.
They aren’t interchangeable, you must use a replacement seal identical to what it came with.

I just tried several different orings on the top of my TFV4 and it won't screw back together. The TFV oring is thick but flat, tried a subtank mini oring but its too small but the same flat style. You could try multiple thin orings that could bulk it up enough to seal. All else fails I searched TFV4 in Fasttech and came up with a oring kit for a couple bucks.
I tip my hat to you for being able to melt the top oring on a TFV4...good work
