I love my tfv4 with the factory quad coils. Nice flavor, nice clouds with the drawback of being very thirsty. The thirsty part is what has driven me to make the single coil RBA deck work. There are numerous tutorials that I have watched on the subject. Different coils, different wicking techniques all claiming great success. I tried them all, only to have the tank gush juice when filled or leak juice at the slightest temperature change. Nothing worked to my satisfaction.

After another attempt today to wick this beast only to be met with a gush of juice all over my mod, the answer was in front of me all this time.... I crushed this POS RBA deck with a pair of pliers and threw it into the trash. I figure the money I will save in wasted juice is worth it. Plus the satisfying crunch of the deck was extremely cleansing.

Oh well! There are always quad coils.

Last week I bought a goblin mini for my wife and a tfv4 for myself. The last time I touched a tank was back when the aerotank was a new thing, and had never rebuilt a tank before last week. I've been dripping on rda's for quite a while though and thought I had my wicking with rayon damn near perfected. I had seen countless pics of wicked rta's, so I figured it would be simple.

My first few tries wicking rta's proved that I was wrong.

Started my adventure on the goblin and its tiny deck. Long story short, it did nothing but dry hit, even on tc. Then it did nothing but leak. Then I found the happy median.

The tfv4 never dry hit on me, but the first build I put in it would leak when I refilled it. Fixed that by opening it up and just adding the tinyist little pieces of juiced rayon on the deck along side of the wick next to the juice channels. Kinda filling the void, so to speak. No more leaks.

On a subsequent rewick I noticed muted flavors. Turned out that I had my wick too tight in the coil. Tweezed a bit from the center of the wick tails, put it back together, and flavor just exploded. Like better than my Veritas, Marquis, or Derringer's. Tweeze too much though, and it may get leaky.

I found that if my wicking was too tight that I was getting dry coil notifications on medium long draws. After thinning them I can throw 100j at the coil for as long as I can manage to keep inhaling without a dry coil message.

Now neither tank leaks, and the wicking in both can keep up with whatever I throw at them.

So I'm a complete rta noob and managed to find great success with both tanks. If you're more experienced and weren't able to get it to stop leaking perhaps there were some quality control issues on the deck itself. Bad orings or machining perhaps. The tfv4 is known for its crap quality orings, so who knows.

I'm really happy to hear that I am not the only one with issues building on tfv4 RBA decks. I have been having all sorts of issues with their dual coil deck even after a dozen attempts or so. I'm just determined to get it right! So many people love their tfv4 RBAs and I want in. The Clapton RBA broke on me the second time I tried building on it. I don't think I am going to get another one. I had high hopes for these RBAs but I'm not holding my breath anymore. I just ordered a velocity and velocity mini clone to satisfy my building needs.

The thought of trying a dual coil deck did cross my mind but I have decided against it. If the tfv4 was my EDV then I would probably do so. But I rotate it with 3 other sub-ohm tanks. So forking out for the occasional quad coil is worth it in saved aggrevation given the track record of the single coil deck.

When at home and dripping is more convenient. I mainly use a Buddha V2 RDA, which has raised vaping to a whole new level for me.

Love it. Only thing better would have been to take a torch to it and melt it into liquid then spit on it.
