with the quad coils how low do you drain the tank before refilling? if you look at the quad coils there are four juice holes stacked vertically. those four holes wick the corresponding sections of the wick. if you drain the juice below the top juice hole before refilling you will burn the top portion of the wick and ruin the coil. just make sure that top juice hole is always covered and i have not had any issues. that is one of the poor design choices of the tank and those coils in particular. you need to fill the tank with it still about 1/4-1/3 full. thats why i rarely change my juice flavor in my tfv4. i would be wasting so much juice each time.

O trust me, I prime the ever loving doo doo out of it. inside the coil, through the holes, adding drop after drop untill it is ALL nice and wet. then i put the coil in the tank and fill the tank and let it sit for a while. the first tank is good, but after that it gets funky...

As to the juice level, I will watch that, I normally go about half way down the coil before topping ti off. ill put a new coil in tonight and not let the level get below the top of it. I do know that the lines of 4 holes do not actually feed the wicking. there are two slots in the inner casing that run the entire length of the coil that allow juice to be absorbed by the wick. So Im not sure, but as long as it wicks well I thought that it would still work. Im not trying to second guess you...

I didn't mean that the holes wicked it directly. They are just a representation of where the top of the wicking is. If the juice is half way down the coil that would mean that a large portion isn't getting wicked directly. I would assume that if you left it sitting long enough between draws with the juice level half way down the coil it would wick eventually. However, if it hasn't yet half the coil would be wicked and provide a good vape while the top portion would be a bit dry and eventually stert singing.

I received my Smok TFV4 yesterday. I did all the prepping to get it ready. I took it apart to make sure there was no machine odor, wetted the coil filled the tank with my DIY custard and waited etc. While I waited I un boxed my Sigelei 150W TC Temp Control Mod. Played with it while the coil soaked up the juice. After about a half a hour I primed it a couple times and off we went. Started at 30 watts for a few draws then kept bumping it up. My sweet spot is sitting at 85.7 watts with air flow half open. I enjoy my mini sub tank about 32 watts. The TFV4 kicked the flavor up a bit and as all you know the vapor :vapor:like no other tank I have owned. I looked long and hard at getting the crown. I tried it at my local B&M decided to go with the TFV4 because of the air flow on the tip and a tad better flavor I guess lol. With the triple and the quad even the Sextuple what is next? What will be the latest and greatest :thumb:

Just got this a few days ago. Havent tried the triple or quad coils yet and went straight to the RBA. During the first fill of the tank, it works great - flavor and vapor production is comparable to none. However, this is the issue I kept on stumbling to - when refilled, I get dry hits when I start to hit after being idle (meaning after a few hits, I let it stand for a while then when I try to hit again, bam - dry hits), even when using temp control. It seems tha juice flow cant keep up with the hits I am making or pressure on the tank is too low that the juice creeps out of the cotton. I have to turn the tank upside down a few times to have the juice wet the wick before it works flawlessly again which is a bit of a hassle. Never experienced this on the Subtank Mini.

Do any of you experienced this (using the RBA or the quad and triple coils)? I dont think its my wicking which causes this because it works flawlessly on the first fill - even when I chain vape it.

I was seriously considering this tank, but I'm having a hard time justifying the price for the life of it. $50 for the tank and around $30 for a pack of coils? I know I could use the RBA section, but I'm a lazy little vaper and I like being able to just throw a head in there and vape away... Is it really worth $70 to get started with this? I already own several RDAs and an Atlantis v.2 that I use daily. Not trying to knock it, but is this really worth the price? Am I looking on the wrong site for these?

don't let the price scare you...this is a seriously good tank. once you get the quirks ironed out (and most tanks have some quirks) it's great.

Pulled the trigger and bought one. Got it for cheaper on a new site I haven't used. I also got a pack of the Clapton coils as I'm nervous about vaping at such a low resistance (lowest I go is .3 Ohms)

I appreciate the feedback :)

The prices you are quoting are a bit out of line, at least for on-line purchasing. The cheapest I have found so far is sweet-vapes.com, $30.00 for the tank, and $20.00 for a five pack of coils (kanthal). :thumb:

Unfortunately, I already placed an order that shipped from Element Vapes. The price before was from Vapor DNA. Depending on how much I like the tank, I'll probably grab the coils from there. Thank you for the info! :)
