Hello, all.

Recently decided to finally upgrade from egos and disposable batteries/tanks. Got my first mod in the mail today (though no batteries/charger yet, so still gotta wait a couple days to use it) and I plan to purchase an IStick 50w soon for my every day out-and-about vaping.

Now I'm going to upgrade my clearos... I've pretty much all but decided between getting one of the following: VCT X1 (~mini), VCT Mega (~full) ,Subtank Mini or regular Subtank.

I want something that I can use pre-built coils with at first (and down the road when time's an enemy) all the while teaching myself how to make my own coils.

Has anyone here actually used both of them, specifically the rebuildable options of the two? The one comparison that I've found seemed to suggest that they result in almost exactly the same vape with the pre-builts but the Subtank has better rebuildable options. Price is definitely a factor (X1 @ $18 or Mega @ $21 + $6 for the "DIY Kit" rebuildable vs $40-$45) but I'd rather pay more now to have a better, sturdier product that will last instead of having to buy another tank entirely after a few months... Up until now I have used a lot of Smok's products (still am using Smok T-Dux clearos) and while I like them they definitely seem to have that cheap, disposable kind of feel to them; but the products were intended that way while I don't believe this one is.

I was thinking about just buying the Smok model now and the Kanger model later and deciding for myself, but if a few can tell me that one is clear-and-away better right now I might just save myself spending $30+ on something I won't be using at all two months from now.

Also -- Just HOW big and heavy are the full-sized options? I don't really care how it looks (like if it looks huge and awkward on an IStick) but I would like to carry in my pocket without having to have my setup disassembled in a case. Also I've seen that the Subtank mini rebuildable deck is slightly different to the Subtank rebuildable deck (Smok's is the same "kit")?

The VCT is a nice tank and the coils last forever, but the DIY isnt a rebuildable deck really. It even says that on most ssites, you just wick the coil. I dont know for a fact it isnt rebuildable, jusy my 2 main vendors say not to try building it. The price is great though and coils are considerably cheaper also have never had any leaking issueswith it.

The subtank mini on the other hand is pretty much perfect minus rare flooding and leaking issues. Its also double the price of the VCT so thats a con.

I have both. Well, HAD both, I dropped my mod off the edge of my workbench the other day and fubar-ed my poor SMOK tank. It didn't fall far, and it hit a wood floor, but it bent at the side where the metal of the tank meets the metal part of the 510, and I couldn't fix it. :( Shame, because I really feel like the flavor and vapor production were better than the Subtank. The SMOK tank was half the price of the Kanger, and it didn't feel janky to me, but I'm hard on stuff. I have been pretty into using RBAs lately and just use a tank when I'm out and about doing something where dripping isn't practical, but I would consider buying another SMOK tank. The Subtank is OK, but it's a lot less flavorful for whatever reason.

Thanks juggler because I was looking at it on madvapes and a few other sites and the way in which it was described was semi-misleading.

This coil is to be rewicked by the user, not to be built repeatedly like an RBA base attachment. Treat this as a disposable coil that you would change every couple of weeks, the only difference is this device requires to be rewicked with every new installment

I suppose it COULD be rebuilt or whatever once (to alter resistance) but then after it's done you'd just have to throw it away and buy another. Might still be worth a try at the price, could be an easy transition into that realm for me (or I could probably just buy it to have has a regular tank then buy a straight-up RBA, both for around the same price as the Subtank).

Which leads to my next question: Is the rebuildable deck of the Subtank high quality? Does it rival standalone rebuildables in the general price range?

@tehmidcap

the mini RBA is pretty good. It's dead easy to build on and very simple layout. Need to be a bit careful with wicking as the juice holes are a bit..errrr...small, but they do work. Some people have filed them out a little but this has ended in tears on at least one occasion that I remember reading about. Anyway, I have a 0.9 ohm coil in there at the moment (~6 wraps 26g on 3mm) and I can hit it nicely at 20w - wicking keeps up ok, good vapour and pretty good flavour using 80:20 VG:pG! Its not RDA quality but it works really well nevertheless.

Bah! There's just so many vaping options it's impossible to choose.

Let me ask this question to see what the general consensus is:

VCT + Kayfun Lite Plus clone OR Subtank?

I'll probably end up either just getting a Subtank mini or possibly just getting a VCT for now then getting a Subtank Plus when they come out (I can just give the VCT to my gf until we end up getting her a Subtank too)-- It seems like the Subtank is just overall constructed better than the Smok or any clone alternatives. Plus the fact that it's the ONLY tank that can use pre-builts or RBA is very appealing.

What did u end up choosing? Personally I like the taste better In the KT subtank coils , they are a tiny hair better ...
I got the Smok VCT mega with the A1 coils + the DIY kit . I also have the KT Subtank Mini

THE Smok tanks are Inexpensive, but they produce great flAvor and nice Clouds! I chose to get the VCT over the VCT pro cuz at the Time $18 for a 6/7 ml Tank with over 10 coil options is what I needed..
I will probably end up getting the Smok TCT soon... The TCT & the VCT PRO coils are also interchangeable .

Jst FIY the Smok VCT A1 & the X1 coils are interchangeable, as well w/ the GCT Tank , but im sure u prolly knew that ..

I got the A1 coils and pushed it upto 40W, sometimes even 50W . I WAsn't aware that 30W was the limit . But I like the A1 coils cuz they got Juice control, I cant wait to try the other coils .

I'm always looking for Better Tasting Tanks, will prolly get the Starre Tank, Billow v2, Heracles tAnk, Zhypharus tank, herakles, or artic ,
