Hello all.

So I've posted this in the new people forum, but hopefully its OK to post again here (added more info anyways) now that I have my 5 post badge of honour.

Bought the Smok XPro m50 (upgraded to m65) as my first step up from a Vamo V6, appealing due to its size and potential to use as a mech mod.

The problems, OH THE PROBLEMS! I've had pretty much every issue I've seen in posts on here and other forums in my search for any possible fix. Sequence of events:

Worked fine for a week.
Started doing 'power reduced' on healthy efest 3100's ; this got progressively worse over a few weeks (for awhile I could vape at 30W, eventually it wouldn't even fire @ 10). During this downward spiral, instead of just saying power reduced, it started telling me weak battery or check atomizer, seemingly interchangeably. I tried using it on mech mode. This worked for awhile, but the device would reset itself any time I used ohms below 0.5, and eventually it started giving the same battery/atomizer errors. Eventually, it started totally glitching when I tried to fire it (screen half off, flickering, turning on and off).
To the point that it wouldn't fire at all, on fully charged batteries. I had owned it for 4 weeks.

Needless to say, I tried various resistance builds, duals/singles (I'm using a subtank). Changing batteries. Changing tanks.

Worth noting at this point that for awhile it would not work with a dual coil @ 0.8ohm, but it would work OK with a single @ 0.8. For awhile, I thought something to do with the ramp up time was triggering the devices protection circuitry?

Anyhow. I found a post in another forum where a guy suggested it could be juice leaking into the top (while others say it couldn't be as they had these probs from day 1). He suggested taking the top off and cleaning juice out. I took the top off, didn't find much juice (tiny amount and not around any wires or circuitry). But put the top back on, screwing it all in a bit tighter than before... and now it works again, right up to 50W easy.

I'm not sure exactly what the deal is. It would appear that the battery earth is connected to the screws (bottom plate is the earth connection and both bottom and top screw in to the same posts which run the length of the mod).
So this isn't exactly a fix, as I don't know what I changed, but it would appear I changed something, as its now working great. Perhaps someone smarter than I can work out why this could have solved the problem - it certainly would be awesome if there is a simple fix for this device, which is quite a good one for the money IF it functions as advertised.

Anyway. Hope this can help someone as it had me pulling my hair out and I smoked my first analogue in over a year (I've been travelling remote south east asia where finding a vape shop is super likely). Any thoughts appreciated!

From what I understand, the Smok Xpro looks at voltage drop as a way to gage the healthy of your battery. Your Efest 3100 only has a 20 amp limit if I'm not mistaken, and might be dropping too low when fired with your 0.8 ohm atty. I experienced a similar thing in my ipv2s with the same battery. If I were you I'd try something like an Efest 2500 with the 35 amp limit, or some other 30+ amp limit battery and see if the problem alleviates itself. Hope that helps!

When I first got my M65 I removed the topcap to swap the fire button (it was held in with a clip). I don't know if mine had the fault to start with but only once has the watts dropped by themselves. This was with a genuine VTC5. Not a single drop so far with an LG HE4 vaping at 45Watts with a 0.3ohm build.

The efest 2500mAh is only a 20Amp battery. The 35 Amps on the label is the pulse rating, and as we don't know how long this pulse is you should consider it a 20 Amp battery. The only time we see a battery quoting more than 30Amps (SonyLand) it should be treated as a misquote. Having said that the efest 2500 is a damn good 20 Amper (an LG allegedly).

adox's advice is well worth a try. You'll probably want to remove the topcap anyway to add some silicon to seal it.
