Smoke Assassin - As Heard On Sirius Satellite

I already had several 401s in hand and some 510s on order, but when I heard about the free trial for the Smoke Assassin while listening to the Howard Stern Show, I thought, why not! So I called and ordered one. About $10 to have it shipped to the house and took about a week to get it in.

First of all, beware, when you order the free trial, you're going to get put on an automatic cartridge mailing plan that I believe costs around $70 per month! Why do I "believe" it costs so much?

Because when I ordered it, the operator who took my order spoke so friggin' fast long to fit all the bull**** it, I didn't fully catch what she was saying. I knew, however, that I was going to cancel the subscription service as soon as I received the hardware, I didn't really care.

So last week, it came in. I believe it's a 8084 or DES084 mini. It came with a single battery, atomizer, 4 refill carts, and charger all in a simulated cig box, there were also 20 extra carts in separate boxes all zero nicotine. Not a great way to vape off analogs. I tried it out. Nothing great. No better or worse than my 401s. I actually like the flavor of the carts that came with my 401 much better.

The charger that came with it however was not a single piece as shown on their website (actually, nothing looked like it is on their website) but a wired USB charger. When I plugged it in, no lights, but a really bad smell. A smell I know all too well, the smell of burning electronic components.

I called them up and told them about it and they said they were going to send out a new charger. Still nothing. I'll update you if I get one.

Any hard core fans of the Stern show might remember Sal the Stockbroker vapes like a steam machine. (or maybe that segment was just cleverly disguised marketing)
Seems like their e-cig adverts started soon after that particular show.
They've had one or two "celebrity" guests vape in the studio also if I remember right.

I've been a fan for many, many years now but the advertising is getting progressively worse... as are the reruns we're paying for while he's on perpetual vacation.

It looks like the DSE084 but I talked to the owner of Skyrl (the only supplier in the US that I know of that sells the 084) and he says its more like a cheap knock off of his product. Says it's called the "usb pack which you can buy from china for practically 1/3 of the price of that thing" he also pointed out the 4packs of cartridges for $70 and laughed and pointed out that he sells 10 packs for about that price and each of his comes with 5cartridges instead of that 4. His pricing is all around better and he has the newer/better version of that unit.

Not out to advertise for the man, just don't want anyone to get ripped off. I've got 4 of his (skyrl) units.. all 4 still running strong after over a month.

Funny you should say that.

I now own the Smoke Assassin, a couple 401s and I just got my Joye510. After comparing the different size carts, it's no wonder why Smoke Assassin chose the DES084. As you say, the cart size is a total joke, and at $70 for 20 prefills, it's a total ripoff.

Buyers beware of the Smoke Assassin!! You can get much better equipment, refill the carts yourself, and same a TON of money. IMHO the Smoke Assassin is a total ripoff.

I heard about it on Bubba's show and decided to give it a shot. Obviously, it's worked out quite well for me. Is Howard back from vacation tomorrow? I know the BRN is supposed to be back. Artie managed to get a DUI over the weekend, so that discussion ought to be interesting.

I hear the smoke assassin commercial all the time on SiriusXM. I don't like them talking so much about quitting smoking and making health claims. That's what is making the government try to ban e-cigs. When they make it so blatant, the FDA will come down hard on e-cigs and we may end up with a ban quicker than otherwise.

The only thing good about SA is that it brought me to this site looking for reviews, and found the world of vaping which I didn't know existed before.

I called SA and my first question was "what's the catch?" The guy on the line was a jerk and after his "shpeal" he mentioned the cart thing. I said "that's a rippoff!" and hung up... lol

Quite a few people in the US sell the 084. As for the carts, the carts are a joke(what can you really expect though when its 84mm) and unless you use a syringe to refill, a pain to refill because it will not soak through. With syringe it fills easy. It does run hot though IMHO.
