Smoke Star - I Took One For The Team

My local liquor store has had Smoke Star e-cigs at the counter for months now. I didn't know much about them other than they're part of the vapor-corp family. I knew they'd be awful, but last night my curiosity got the best of me so I bought one for $14.99.

It comes in a cute little cigarette box-sized package. I opened it to find 1 pre-filled carto and 1 disposable battery. No charger. I think it's an 808, but I don't have any 808 gear to verify that.

I screwed the thing together and tried to vape. Nothing. Screwed it on tighter. Nothing. I looked in the mirror as I vaped on it. I could get the LED to come on, but only for about 1 second. It turns out this thing requires superhuman suction to activate the battery, and seems to have literally a 1 second cutoff. 6-7 cheek-pulling primer puffs and I finally saw a little vapor. I inhaled. Nothing. When I got home I put some tape around 3 of the 4 carto holes just to get the LED to light up without blowing out my face. Still Nothing.

This thing is pointless. F+

I'm not sure how all the crap products make it to retail, thus giving vaping a bad rep, when all the good product is nearly always internet only and has little to no advertising.

That's a shame. I hate that there's the potential for a smoker to see that, buy it and then write off e-cigarettes as something that doesn't work. Then when I say I use one, they say "oh, those things suck. I bought one and threw it away."

Yeah. That's what happened with my MIL.
On Thanksgiving, my sweetie and I walked into a house of smokers and started vaping away. I got my MIL to look at my ecig for a millisecond before proclaiming that she'd tried one. I felt like saying, "But this isn't a POS". Since she's my MIL, I just mashed some potatoes and shut up.

Enid, why not just have her try it? In my experience, unless you're dealing with a total sourpuss, nothing rubs off like excitement!

I've run across people who have tried POS e-cigs, and when they saw how exuberant I am about mine, they tried it, and were really impressed .
