2 people my hubby works with decided to hop on board last week and started vaping because my hubby keeps on bragging to everybody about how awesome it's working for me and explaining to people how it works, well to the best of what he knows of it anyways.. I have to do the rest when they have real questions.. lol

BUT he himself will not get on the train he says it makes him cough when he tried a couple drags a while back and yet he cough 3 times more on the regular cigarettes . BUT when we are in a public indoor place and he gets annoyed that I go outside to vape and says smoke right here and I won't he steals my gear to puff on it just to prove a point.. NO coughing :glare:.. lol

So my 3 packs a day hubby LOVES to brag and tell people they should switch over but he won't give it a real try.. how ironic is that.. lol

The couple that switched over are LOVING vaping so far :)

yep, offered him to try an all vg or even a 70/30 vg/pg and he won't try.. lol

I also smoke still but I am down to maybe 1 smoke a week, usually need one cause my batteries died or for some other reason but compare to my 2 packs a day 1 smoke a week now I think I am doing pretty good.

As for hubby, well he may eventually switch, I just think it's funny that he is out converting others.. hehe!

And yes -30 is darn cold when we get it.. brrrr!

Given a choice I would choose cigarettes anyday over vaping, to me, vaping vs smoking is like sugar free cola vs regular cola.

About 5 years ago while out paintballing with some buds, I took a paintball in the back, the impact focused on my ribcage right over the left lung, this caused a small hemmorage inside the lung that became infected in a matter of hours, by nightfall I was sporting a high fever and starting to cough up pink mucus.

I was stupid and toughed it out for two days thinking It was just a flu, into the third day my body started telling me in no uncertain terms that I was going to die without help, I was almost 39c, gasping for air and white as a ghost.

My Wife gladly drove me to the emergency room (she had been urging me to go right from the start) they checked my blood pressure and all hell broke loose, apparently my heart was about to stop, I was immediatly put on IV and hooked up to a C-PAP machine while they called for an ambulance to get me to a bigger hospital, better equiped to deal with me.

After 2 weeks I recovered and was released but from that point on would develop Bronchitis everytime I had a cold, and I caught colds often, I also had, what felt like a Sea Urchin living in my left lung, kind of a spikey foreign object sensation that would come and go, this sensation was getting more and more common and spreading to the right lung.

So Im in my early 30's, my teeth are brown, my fingers stink, Im sick at least once a month and I'm getting phantom spiked stones pains in my lungs, my journey to quit begins, patches, pills and gums with no success, remembering an old article from Popular Science I Google up electronic cigarettes and start research, end of February 2012 rolls around and Im on my first e-cig and leaving the death darts to rot.

It's the concept of MORTALITY and the fact that IT CAN AND IT IS happening that drives the change, get a smoker to understand his or her own mortality and they will be much more open to the alternatives.

Hopefully my babbling can offer some inspiration to help motivate others into deeper consideration of, what I consider the future for smokers world wide.

damn slojas, that is some story... and here i was just about to share that during the first heat wave we had in march here in toronto i was flying to japan when our flight was diverted to alaska for a medical emergency and we had to stay overnight with only our carry-ons (which meant t-shirts) in non-smoking rooms in -20C weather and i thought i was lucky that i had JUST gotten my first e-cig... your story is better

we treat ecigs almost like hobbies and passtimes now but we should always remember that it's not the money, it's not the ability to vape anywhere, but our health that really matters

I've been taking my time to try and convert some smokers. The ones that I know (and the ones we all know and used to be at one time) simply did not want to quit because they liked to smoke. Period. Who didn't know the health concerns behind smoking and still didn't quit? Probably all of us. From the stories that I have watched and read, some people pick up vaping right away and others take longer for a lot of reasons. Give kudos to your hubby for switching other people and hope that it will eventually make its way back to his lifestyle. Perhaps he is still interested in vaping, but is using the others as his own set of guinea pigs for his own reasons.

I think some people are scared to make the switch because they are unsure that it will work for them. Vaping is different than smoking and your body does go through changes when you make the switch. Many of these changes are positive but the fact that your not inhaling the carcinogens and other toxins means you are not getting the exact same feeling/taste of a regular cigarette. Coughing is the body's way of dislodging gunk buildup in the lungs and when you stop smoking and start vaping it is quite common to cough as your lungs are going into a state of repair. For many people the coughing and phlegm will go on for a couple of months but after some time it should lessen and eventually disappear all together. If he is smoking 3 packs a day you will want to start him off with a high dosage of nicotine juice. Something like 36mg. If your using a lower nic juice it's possible he's not getting the enough nic from the juices you vape. Maybe when he sees how well it works for others around him he will start to gain the confidence that he can quit as well. Maybe you can get him to pick a flavor of juice he thinks would be good and get it at a nic level for him. Many people have started vaping because they could vape in places that smoking is not allowed, get a juice for him to use in these situations and he will at least get used to subtle differences in vaping at his own pace. Just a thought and I hope there is something you find useful in this post.
