There's just no getting through to some people (young or old).

I was in the mountains this weekend, with very limited internet access.

My fiancee's nephew (in his early 30's) told me he read an article about a guy in England whose 'internal organs caught on FIRE' because of an electronic cigarette. His "internal organs caught on FIRE!"

It took me a solid 60 seconds, but when I caught my breath between fits of laughter, I asked him what caused the combustion...there had to have been a spark. He didn't know, but that's what he had read.

I advised him to not read "The Onion" any more.

I did a quick search when I returned to civilization, but I couldn't find any such story.

My point is ignorance doesn't discriminate.

Amazing the crap people come up with!

i was vaping in the alleyway outside my work, one of the smokers came over to tell me how bad it was...his first word was interrupted by a coughing fit....he kept coughing through his whole stupid tirade.

an hour later, i get emails from the witnesses asking how they can get started in vaping. i figure in another few days, maybe i'll see some e-cigs or tanks out there in that alleyway. probably not, but it was a perfect storm of stupidity and education.

and the smoker who was all high and mighty? he's been out sick for 3 days now including the weekend.

if you call down the thunder, you will get the lightning too.

I have to challenge those people and deal in specifics.

"Well, tell me just what is dangerous in an ecig."

Well, it's full of antifreeze!

"It's propylene glycol and it replaced diethylene glycol in antifreeze because animals were dying from licking it up. DEG is sweet but it's also poisonous. PG is generally recognized as safe by the FDA, and it's in that Coke you are drinking. It's in your toothpaste and many of the foods you eat. It's in your wife's makeup and it's in your son's SnowCone juice. It's a food grade additive and by the way, it's in the dressing on that salad you just ate."
---
We'll probably never convince everyone, but I have yet to enter a discussion with someone who thinks ecigs are bad where I didn't sway them with facts.

We have a geezer at work who is the same. One lung down and still smoking, giving me a hard time for using "that crap". Any info I say is responded with "that's what THEY" tell you.

Pointless to argue with some people,

Thats when when you tell them
Remember that old man that gave you a hard time over you smoking ??? He said that if you keep at it it will muss up your lunges
as he chokes smile and say see he was right lol

The REALLY scary thing is he is VERY intelligent, by anyone's standards. And, yet, he was quoting this story as though it were true! To the point that I actually searched for it! And I like to think I'm of average intelligence!

You said you couldn't find the story when you got back? Maybe he just made it up to try to spark up some conversation? Wouldn't be the first time.

No, that wasn't it. I wish that was what he was trying to do. Even if it was, and I misread his intent, the conversation that did take place was quite amusing (for me, anyway)...if not productive. :)
