Hello all, I started using ecigs yesterday; prior to this I was a smoker for 10 years and was smoking 2 packs a day some days 3 packs.

I read allot of reviews and bought the Halo g6 starter kit and ejuce from mtbv. All is good but I have some questions.
1: I smoked yesterday all day the ecig but I get this metallic taste in my mouth after smoking when I inhale air.
2: often I get a really hot smoke
3: my chest feels more congested after this then with regular cigs, is this normal for first-time users?

I am using
Halo g6 1 automatic 1 manual battery,
1 g6 mini tank 1 pack of 5 cardo’s from halo
Juce 50/50 PG/VG and 80/20 PG/VG

Hi and welcome to ECF :)

When you say really hot - does it taste burnt at all?

Towards the congestion, it could be loosening of gunk from not smoking, adjusting to vapor over smoke or a minor sensitivity/preference to PG or VG. You said your juice is 50/50 and 80/20 - have you predominantly used one over the other by chance? If so - is the congestion irritated or worsened by one of them?

I'm not familiar with the Halo as I have a Vamo and a Provari but I do know that all I have to do is turn down the voltage when I get a "hot smoke".

Another thing is, I use tanks and they will start to "spatter" juice sometimes and I'll get a weird throat feeling. After researching, I realized it was e-juice. So, when that happens, I unscrew the bottom of the tank (BCC) and pull out the coil and clean all the liquid up. Then, I take the tip off, and blow out all the juice. Put everything back together again and it's perfect!

As for the chest thing, I HEAR YA! CreepyLady has some great advice on this. I'm not sure if this happens with everyone, but it did with me. I was a very heavy smoker - like you and my chest felt weird for a couple of weeks. I went from about 35 cigs a day to 3. Still haven't given completely up on the "stinkies" but have been vaping for 6 months now and what a HUGE difference it has made. Just hang in there. I can sing again. I can go to sleep without coughing all night. My goal is to be stinky free by March 29 (same day my sister quit 2 years ago)

BTW, I like 75 pv and 25 vg and good luck!:2cool:

Congrats on making the switch :) You may want to pick up some gear with more heft. I know spending more money when you're starting out is frustrating, but you were a heavy smoker. eGo style deliver more heft without having to spend too much more money. I used to be a 1 1/2 -3 PAD smoker, and started out with a Mistic from Wal-mart. That first month would've been far more pleasant, had I started out with an eGo. Having to constantly worry about battery life, and performance added to the aggravation of quitting.
Now as far as the metallic taste....your tastes are going to change. Your sense of smell should come back as well. Drink plenty of water, and maybe look into some vitamins. Getting all the gunk from cigarettes out of your system should help. It takes a few weeks. BTW I am not a doctor  just sharing some tips that helped me.

Hello, new guy here too. And first post. Smoked a pack a day since 16, I'm 36. My sister bought me a cheap starter kit for Christmas, and I haven't smoked since. I've quit many times cold turkey for a short while, but gotta say this time it's been easy. ... But I also had that metallic taste, which I think came from a combination of things, been watching a lot of YouTube videos. My iclear16 needed to be rinsed out. The juice I was using wasn't that great either. I had a 50/50 blend, and I was inhaling too deeply which hurt my chest. I've since bought a couple Cool Fire 1s off ebay, and I love them, except the batteries need changed frequently. The taste is better. I've read the tanks leak, but I haven't had a problem. I also like the simplicity of it compared to the advanced stuff. I'm also using 100vg mostly. Also trying out many different juice vendors. And lowered my nicotine to 12. Only tried about 8 flavors, and 4 companies, but I'm crazy over Velvet Cloud Vapor. Sorry if I'm going on too much lol. Stick with it! And keep trying other stuff until you find what works.

Hmm. I fear the worst actually on this one.

I tried to quit from 15 roll ups a day with this sort of kit. It was so bad, I had to get Nicotine patches as well.

What nicotine strength did you go for?

I will pray to the vape gods tonight that they are kind on you. Good luck. :)

LOL, thanks for the prayer.
I am going for 12mg and 6 mg nicotine.
I loved smoking but because I have to go out to smoke at work and I work in a huge building it takes me 3-4 mins to go out to smoke, it turned from pleasure to a chore. That is why I don’t want to invest in advanced stuff; I want to keep it simple just like a regular cig, light and go. And actually I like the auto battery better, if I want a stronger vape all I do is take a slow long drag.

Also I would like to thank everyone; I never thought I would get so much help from the ecig community. You guys are awesome!

That is the one of the things I like about ecf and the people here. Everyone is so willing to help you and are so nice when you ask questions. I hope any problems you are having with congestion goes away. Good luck to you. Please don't hesitate to ask anything and enjoy all the support. The people here really do care.

Chest congestion is a very common symptom when you quit tobacco. All that tar and garbage wants to start to loosen and come up. I stopped tobacco in July and I brought up stuff outta my lungs from the 1970s! I was not a heavy smoker but it took about two weeks for that congestion to lessen. Actually, the vapor from the e-cigs kind of helped with that. I had the metallic taste too but that went away as well. Good luck and congrats!

I found if you "chain vape" the wicking can't soak it up fast enough. Try extending the time between vapes. The chest thing is normal I guess. It happened to me and it takes some time for all the crap to be expelled from the analogs. That won't happen overnight. Keep it up. Nowhere to go but better! Congrats on the Big Quit. Don't let it beat you, you're better than that.

The G6 is a solid unit. I find the mini tanks work well on them. Halo is running a discount on them right now. 20% off.
