She raises a series of important and valid points, especially on how the ANTZ are motivated, above all else, by a seething hatred of smokers. Smokers (and, now, ex-smokers who use a certain type of nicotine replacement device) are, for all intents and purposes, the only population subset whom it's still socially acceptable to stereotype and dehumanize without much fear of recrimination.

We know that part of the ANTZ mindset is the arbitrary belief that smokers must either A) die from smoking, or B) cease any and all nicotine intake, and do so only in a manner of which the ANTZ happen to approve. In my estimation, the thing that drives them to the biggest, most hysterical rage-gasms is that smokers might be able to find a happy medium, where they quit smoking but are still able to enjoy the aspects of smoking that they used to find enjoyable, and they're able to do it with little to no health risks involved.

In the minds of the more vociferous ANTZ, this is cheating, because smokers are morally defective, subhuman drug addicts who must SUFFER and be PUNISHED, one way or the other. They must suffer a miserable smoking-related death or, at the very least, suffer through the travails of cold-turkey smoking withdrawal. They must not be given an easy out that spares them from any punishment or suffering at all. This is unacceptable and not to be tolerated.

Exactly! And the fact that we vapers are quite unashamed of our enjoyment of vaping, and assertive of our right to vape -- i.e., that we're not meekly buckling under -- must be driving them mad!

The ANTZ are fanatics, dear. Like religious fanatics. Remember that horrible tragedy in NY? Religious fanatics do not care about "infidels".
In addition, there is the motivation of money. Big money. Lots of money. Money for spreading precisely such hatred. Money for making "infidels" die.

Quit or die. They mean it.

My God, I was just saying something similar to a vaping buddy, although not as eloquently as the poster did.

We have to pay for our sins of smoking by going cold turkey and suffering for years in constant reminder of our folley. The mere fact that we have escaped this through vaping angers them to no end. Add the fact that we actually enjoy
vaping and it makes their heads explode.

After talking with a couple of ex-smoker acquaintances who quit cold turkey, they seem to be against e-cigs. I am wondering if it is because they had to suffer while vapers do not...

In my experience, ex-smokers who quit cold turkey before the advent of e-cigs are some of the most sanctimonious, self-righteous people on this planet. In some cases, they're even worse than never-smokers, because they think the fact that they opted to quit in the most miserable, torturous manner possible gives them a permanent license to look down their noses at anyone who quits any other way. And they tend to be some of the most ardent practitioners of anti-nicotine hysteria, as well. I've heard "It doesn't matter, you're still an ADDICT" from more ex-smokers than any other type of person.

Perfectly stated! It has to drive them crazy that a bunch of people that sat silently as they continually piled on abuse from smoker to tobacco user for decades. Now, when they've tried the same routine with non-pharma nicotine, they've hit real resistance that is uncovering so many lies.
