So I work for Magna International as a process technician and I've been here for around 5 years. Every year they start a smoking cessation program around February time to which many employees have signed up for.... year after year. Some people have been signing up for the past 3-4 years with no success in actually quitting. They would stop for a few months and start smoking again. In the last year I've actually introduced a few of my co-workers to vaping and I've actually gotten more people to quit with just E-cigarettes than all the hypnotherapy, guidance counselling etc that the program had success on this year. Not to say that they won't go back to smoking all the same, but they've lasted longer with vaping than they did with the program.

My HR manager approached me a few days ago, after hearing about how I helped people, and asked me about the E-Cigarettes and dangers behind them and if its habit forming. I told him about the health benefits I personally received such as energy levels, ability to breathe and the fact that I no longer smell like cigarettes. I also informed him that I'm not a doctor nor a scientist and that any long term effects of vaping are still yet to be discovered. Today my HR told me that they're going to see if they can work e-cigarettes into the program next year as an aide to help quitting cigarettes. Don't know if it will, but heres hoping!

Thanks Baditude and Sir2fyablynutz, these are both helpful links and I'll be sure to pass them along to HR. I know that getting e cigarettes in the company is a longshot, especially one as law abiding as Magna. Until it does though, I'm going to continue to spread the word on vaping to try and help people quit on my own.

thats good news man, every bit helps..it may not change the views of the entire world but what you did do is start a chain reaction because each of those people know smokers as well and will tell them about e-cig's and it will go on and on..sort of like a pyramid/ponzi scehem but only this is one that everyone wins long as they stay committed to it.

For 30 years I was a PAD + 1/2 !!! I tried Chantix, which didn't work. This is the closest I've ever been to quitting smoking. Vaping has DEFINITELY helped me. I had no real intentions on quitting until my son bought me my Kanger Sub box mini. He of course has wanted me to quit forever. Since he invested his own money I figured why not and this is working. I think it is great some companies are recognizing advantages of vaping.

@Jennifer51369 - Was the Subox your first vape device? If so, how do you like it? Some people think that is a little "advanced" for a first time setup. I use one and I've been pondering recommending it to newcomers.

I vaped before about a year ago. I had an I Taste. Not sure exactly the model. So I wasn't actually new to vaping. For a smoker, I think recommending a subox to quit is fine. I guess it also depends on how heavy a smoker they are. I understand your concern though.
