Wattage does NOT equal temperature. If a device can flow a lot of eliquid to the coil, and has a lot of airflow, it can be used at a very high wattage while still staying in a safe temperature range.
As BunnyKiller said, itwike lighting the wrong end of a cigarette (I would say it's worse). But you know instantly that something is wrong, so you stop and fix it. (And the cigarette still tastes awful, even if you pull the filter off, so you just throw it away).
Hey this may be a sgupid question, but you said throw it away? I had a dry hit earlier on one of my two tanks (boy was it bad) and I figured after the wick saturated again it would be fine. Unfortunately I was wrong cuz it still tastes like crap. So just changing out the coil wont fix it? Should I toss the whole tank?
I was referring to the cigarette that you light from the wrong end - even if you pull the filter off it still tastes nasty!
But coils/wicks can be kind of the same way. Sometimes when you burn one it will never recover, other times it can be brought back. But don't throw your coil heads away, toss them in a jar. They can be rebuilt, and even if you aren't interested at the moment, you might be in the future (or someone else might!)
