Hey folks,

Since I received vape mail today and have been thoroughly impressed with this little bad boy of a carto, I just had to write up a first impressions of it.

SmokTech 1.7 ohm Single Coil Carto @ CDN Vapor

I received two of these cartos with my order to try out for free, but it will not effect my first impression or follow up review. Time always tells which device is worth it in terms of longevity.

After organizing my vape supplies and filling a DCT after receiving my order, I noticed two Stainless Steel cartos were included in my vape mail. Since I have tried a wide variety of cartos from Dual Coils, DCT's, EMDCC's, Kanger Horizontal Dual Coils, E9's, Boges, KR808's, Bloog808, and even the old soft tip 510 cartomizers with varying levels of success, I have been around the block a little and when I didn't recognize them it was a bit of a surprise.

I removed the plastic wrapper and tried to remove the carto condom, key word tried! I fought harder than I ever have in the past to remove it but got it eventually, lol, that sucker was on there. I removed the standard white cap and proceeded to fill with 30 or so drops of juice.

Generally, I try to fill any carto like this until a drop or two of juice flows out of the bottom of the carto then I blow it out gently until it is not slurpy or gurgley at all. This method has never failed me and is ready to vape straight away.

So I plugged the carto onto my icon with an AW IMR 14500 battery to provide the coil with the right amperage to give it a shot in a true 3.7 volt test. First impressions of the carto? Well, it is the loudest carto I have ever heard in my life. Trust me, you know when these cartos are working. Some people dislike crackle from their cartos but I actually find it reassuring and almost... Comforting? If that makes any sense, lol.

TH - The throat hit on these cartos is out of this world. I would place the TH higher than its Dual Coil counterpart without hesitation and that is not an easy feat. Very impressed.

Flavour - Believe it or not, I am getting better flavour from these cartos out of the box than I ever did with Vision Clearos or even on the Stardust. I was flat out amazed because I thought Bloog 808's were going to be the best that I could get for flavour in a poly-fill carto.

Downfalls - Due to the sheer sound of these cartos alone I can expect them to burn faster than a dual coil or DCT. Overall if I can get 3-4 days of dedicated use out of one cartomizer I will be happy and willingly pay the price. If these don't last much longer than a day I will be updating and also be very disappointed.

I am willing to bet that the reason why these single coils produce better flavour and vapour is due to a higher quality coil and the technique used to wrap the batting inside the carto. Right now after using one for a fairly good portion of today I am impressed and already want a DCT-Like (SCT?) version of these in my arsenal since I can make a DCT carto last me about a week.

Anyway I will update with further info on the life span of these cartos and just had to share how WOW these cartos really are. Thanks for reading!

I think if I could get my hands on a flanged 2.7 tank version, my LavaTube would be very, very happy. I knew I wasn't alone because a carto like this can't be kept secret lol.

Dusty loves them too!

There are 3 known types of tanks that will work with the Smoktech single coil carto - I only know one - mine - the VPX SS - Happy Vaper has them. Glass with stainless - good investment - will last for a long time.

You can get 45mm(tank sized) 1.7s and 2.7s at healthcabin.net. Dusty and I made a big carto order from there a while back. They actually have the biggest selection of cartos at one site that I've seen yet. They also have 45mm Boges in 2 2.5 and 3 ohms I believe.

None of them are flanged, I think, but I find my SS 6ml tank fits tight enough it doesn't matter. And I use an ego adapter + ego dct cone for the small tanks.

We're planning on making a big order for cartos in a few weeks you can get in on it if you like(assuming you are in the GTA....on my phone and I can't see your location ATM). It ships straight from china. It was $33 shipping (split 3 ways) and only took a week last time.

Btw, I love these 1.7s in a tank. They wick amazingly and last 5 or 6 days.

Been vaping the 1.7s exclusively for months.

Black wrapped ones would give me just over a week on my Reo before I decided to change to a fresh one.

Silver flanges ones (with a finishing nail tapped on to the wee hole to make it bigger) give me just about a week inside a tank at 4.4 volts

Best flavour, vapour production and TH that I've ever had from a carto.

Where are you getting the flanged singles from if I may ask?

So I have used the carto for about a day and a half total now and I am still impressed, but either it was a bad carto or the newb I let try a single puff on the carto after I said how good it was but my first carto is toast and started to taste burn-y already. Honestly I think this was the newbs doing as he really has no clue how to vape at all.

I am far from upset about this fact and if anything it verifies that these cartos are meant for experienced vapers and not people who are new to e-cigs. Overall, I think it is safe to say these are as close to perfection as you can find for those of us who know what we are doing... But if you don't, it is quite likely this carto won't last you a couple minutes, let alone a day.

I will fill the second carto before I head out in the morning and use it exclusively myself and see how long I can make it last myself.

for some reason or another, I picture some half wit. Holding the button down, and drooling while talks about how he loves puppies but he pet one too hard and it went to heaven.
My eight month supply of boges is getting low. Me thinks I'll have to try a packet of these puppies...

I'm loving the fact that folks are getting turned onto these little monsters. :)

I still have about 50 or more in stock, in 1.7 and 2.70hms. I should be ready to order another batch in about a month or so. Just have to wait for the May or June sale at Health Cabin and see what they have on offer at the time.

These used to be "shorter" at around 35mm or so, but HC now carries them at the standard 44mm in Black and Stainless and this size is perfect for you tank lovers. I personally just drip into them.

Happy Vaping!!

You may be amazed, not far from the truth in this case. Only rather than drooling, he held the switch and acted like the drip tip was the barrel of a loaded six shooter. He held the switch for a good 3 seconds before he finally gathered the guts to go through with it and finally take a vape. The carto started to taste burnt within a half hour after that... So of course I blame him without hesitation.

Tell me about the rabbits George.

These things HAVE to be 1st filled by syringe. There's so much tight batting that you need to get that needle down to the bottom of the carto.

I slip a carto condom on to the bottom and it fits over the bottom and covers the wee hole just above the flange. I get my syringe filled with just under 2ml. I inject til I get a pool on top. Let it sit for 2 mins, then pull the condom off and sit the carto on top of the juice bottle to let the excess drip back in.

Then it's into a tank, or on my Reo. I've never had a carto fail and I've never had "burnt taste.

I've never read about anyone who's had issues, that did the initial fill with a syringe. I'm guessing that's why many retailers include a syringe with every order.
