Have you tried adjusting the hot pin on your drawtube?

Add washers or a spacer under the existing washer on top of the spring. You could add them at the bottom of the spring but you risk a short depending on what you add. Or if you don't need that much added length, remove the spring & pull on it with pliers so it becomes longer. Or you can replace the spring with a longer one. Or you can shorten the screw at the threads so you can get the screw to where you need for contact & will give tension on the spring. Keep in mind that doing so will lower the height of where the top coil leg will sit if that's a concern.

NM problem solved :) Just had to attach rsst and screw down post more while backing off drawtube contact and then tighting back down and now its perfect.

Finally had some time to dial in my first gen style build :D. I used 400 SS mesh on this one but i plan to buy a nice chunk of 500 and start experimenting with that too. used 32 gauge kanthal wire and i'm getting 1.5 ohm using my vamo. is condensation pretty common in these RBA's? i seem to get quite a bit of it.

Hi, I am thinking of getting one of these.
What has been putting me off was the mesh wick and having to mess around oxidising the wick and rolling it and so on.
But now I have read on the Thread that people are using this with non oxidised wicks.
How doe that work?
Do I just roll the wick and put it in the hole.
Or is it best to oxidise the wick and if so how to do this?
Thanks

Do a youtube search on "ss mesh pulse method" and you should get some good instructional videos.
This method only works if you have a mechanical mod that you trust. Basically, you roll your wick
(which is not nearly as difficult as it might seem to be at first, again watch a few videos first, I like
PBusardo's, for all of these issues), give that wick that you just made a few drops of plain
VG or PG or just some regular e-juice and let it suck that up, and hit that with a strong
butane torch if you have one. I've been using a 3-jet cigar lighter and that's been working
fine for me.

Wrap your coil as if you're "finished" and fire the device in short bursts.
Start with .5 second bursts and if nothing pops or breaks, start going for longer pulses. You'll eventually
(hopefully) see the entire coil start to glow bright orange. You are oxidizing the SS mesh while you're doing
this.

You'll see the glowing start on the legs that run from your posts to the coil first. On the RSST (since the wick
hole is insulated, I believe) it will start at both the positive AND negative ends. Have patience and go slow.
When the entire coil is glowing evenly, you're good to go. Hit it with a few drops of juice to see how well
(or how badly) it vaporizes.

I hope that was helpful. I'm a n00b with gennies and a klutz in general but I was able to do this fairly easily.

edit: someone PLEASE correct me if I've goofed this somewhere!!!

Exactly what zipflint said, that's how i oxidized my wick. however i don't have a mechanical mod :( i oxidized by burning with a torch before rolling the mesh, then i went ahead and dripped some juice onto the rolled wick and let it burn off. i repeated 3 times, wrapped my coil around the wick, and very slowly "pulsed" the coil the best i could with my vamo.

Right, the only reason I mentioned a mechanical specifically is because if the resistance of your coil is too low (usually less than 1.something Ohms) a "regular" mod just won't fire it. That's a safety feature and it's there for a good reason. If you get a pre-made coil (like, say, an Evod head or a carto or something) and it's poorly made, firing it on an electrical mod could fry the whole device. Therefore, most (all?) decent variable or regulated devices just won't fire.

I hope I'm making sense. I'm usually the one asking for help. I hope I'm actually BEING helpful this time.

Yeah, mine has crazy condensation. So does my AGA T2, & UD AGI. Seems to go with territory...

It helps that the wickhole has an insulator... but you need a mechanical to do it.
I've used this to do it too...

Its a 5v direct passthrough... usb powered. Helps out alot, I usually give my batts a break with it and vape it watching tv...:D
