I think so. It's the first (and only, right now) genesis-style atomizer I've got.
You'll still spend a few hours and waste some materials learning how to build your wicks/coils
but it IS worth it in the end. Just have patience, and watch some instructional, how-to videos
on yootoob.

so is this a good "beginners" atty, or would you suggest a different one?

I'm still kinda new to rebuildables on the whole, but I've always used stainless steel mesh in my RSST.
Most of my builds were "adequate" until I used a sleeve (it's that hollow stuff, sorta like ekowool,
i REALLY wish I knew where I got it from and what it's called) on the top portion, where you
wrap your coil.

That was my "eureka" discovery. It's working better than anything I've ever made.
:D

Anybody find a good size nylon thumb screw that'll fit the fill hole?

I was trying to find a screw for the fill hole myself. Hope someone knows the answer!

I got it!!!! Check this out!! I used a regular screw. Just make sure it's this size. Its a little big for the hole. Just run a flame over the bottom half and pinch just the bottom 1/4 into a smaller diameter. Works great. Easy to grab. Easier not to lose.

23 cents at local hardware store. buy a bunch in case you melt or pinch to much.

I've been using cotton, and it's been amazing! I wrap a coil around a 3mm screwdriver from a mastercraft screwdriver set I had lying around, and use enough cotton so a tiny bit protrudes out of the base of the top cap. One of the best setups I've used to date.

Here it is. I'm using 100% cotton balls I picked up at the pharmacy. I get absolutely no leaking from this setup too. My only gripe with it is the constant need for tipping, but I guess that can be said of any genesis type atties.

I ran one like this for a few days with a 3/64 (?) Micro coil. Used the peaches and cream white cotton yarn. Thread it through with it dangling to the bottom and you don't have to tilt. Worked great for a while then I burnt it and haven't got back to try. Coil might have been too small and choking wick a bit. Will try again soon

I'm just about to enter my 4th week of vaping and I've been realizing what I like and dislike.
Since there are so many different opinions, purchases got costly real quick and I had convinced myself the last thing I wanted to do was wrap coils.....just really had no interest in doing so and even said as much in some of my posts.
The more I said I didn't want to get into the whole rebuilding thing, the more posts I've read that state once you go there, there's no going back to anything else.

So I decided to do some searches on RBA for beginners. Much of what I saw didn't look to appealing to me and I was just about to give up when I came across this one. So without making the thought process overcomplicated (I over think everything) I bought one. The thing that wasn't clear was 400 or 500 mesh; opinion there seems divided.

I realize wire/mesh are sold separately but Quantum Vapors has a bundle (RSST/wire/mesh) that was a no-brainer.
$30 is a small price to pay considering all the other stuff I've bought that I'm not satisfied with.

I was in the same boat. Did not see the point in the whole rebuildy thing. But as this whole thing became more of a hobby, it started to appeal to me more and more. It IS FRUSTRATING when you're just starting but it quickly becomes very rewarding. No longer are you at the mercy of bad heads and QC control. You control your vape!

I do this with ss rope and a ekowool sleeve or xs-116 sleeve... I kinda wanna give the cotton ball a try, I'm just afraid of burning the cotton.

I'm assuming you need to boil the cotton balls first before use?

Some people boil some don't. I don't bother boiling.

Quick, slightly OT question while we're talking about these matters:

SS rope. I wanna give it a shot (I'm fed up with ceramic, it doesn't seem to wick very well) and I've got what I THINK is UNgalvanized SS wire rope. I've tried scraping it and didn't get any zinc flaking. I torched it and didn't get any blue/green flame. So, you guys think it's kosher?

The reason I'm so unsure is that I just got a few feet of it at a hardware store on a whim. I wasn't even paying attention to what EXACTLY it was. I just saw that it was dirt cheap and they had a spool of the right diameter so I figured I'd just go ahead and get some. Now I'm sorta leery of using it.

I plan on doing the ekowool hat on the top anyway. That seems to work great with all my SS mesh wicks.....

I would definitely boil it and torch it first, but if its un-galvanized, it should be fine. As far as a hat, i've used ss mesh a lot. Just wrap a small bit around it, torch it, and wrap the coil. Pulse it a bit and it evens out, they work great. I tried it with ekowool for the first time today, and it also works great. If you bunch the eko up a bit and then insert it, it makes it go in smoother. Also wrapping the coil before you cut the eko will keep it from fraying out.

Edit: also you can chain vape like crazy with the ss rope, if it starts to dry, just barely tilt and it will fill right up.

Thanks for the pointers! Good to know that the SS wire wicks well. I'm a chain vaper, no doubt about it.
I haven't ever tried to keep track of just how much juice I go through in a day, but I've always got:
2 mechs with drippers
1 mech with an RSST
1 hybrid
2 mods (eVic and SVD) with T3Ss or ProTank2 type things
1 eGo variable voltage battery with an Evod. The mini ProTank muted flavor. hoping for better results from the Mini 2.....
Sorry. Now I'm WAAAAAY off topic!!!!

Yeah, I'm in the same boat..I keep a zen standard in my locker at work with a bottle of juice, vape it all day at work, have several others at home. If i get tired of a flavor, i switch attys. And when i get stressed i'll pull out the igo-l cloud machine. So there's no telling how much i actually go through in a day.

Make sure the rope is not galvanized... it is poisonous and bad to vape. it needs to be 316 stainless steel rope. It can be ordered online at eBay, or you can find it at some boat and fishing shops because it's also used for spear fishing since they need the rope that will not rust or corrode in salt water. Some say you can use a magnet to check and see if it's stainless or galvanized, but this isn't always helpful since there's many stainless steel products that will still stick to a magnet.

Some of the rope has a plastic/nylon core in the middle that needs to be removed before using, and some has a super small piece of string inside.... so small you could use it as sewing thread. This string can be pulled out without opening or unraveling the whole rope like what is needed for the stuff with the non metal core inside. I'm not sure why some have the thread in it, I believe it's used to assist in the process of winding the rope when they make it. I got 10 feet in various sizes from the same place before. None of them had a core inside, but I noticed the thread in one of the sizes I got. It actually took me a wile to even see it it was so thin. I cut like 20 wicks before I ever noticed it (thank god I didn't vape it before I noticed it). So as a safe rule, always cut off a piece of SS rope and fully unravel it to check for any material inside that might not be metal before you start cutting your wicks and using them. I believe the plastic cores are to assist in flexibility on some ropes.

Kidney Puncher sells pre-cut SS rope wicks on their site. Your gonna pay way more than if you got 10 feet online and cut it yourself, but it will be the perfect stuff. They have really nice 316 rope with no plastic core or threading inside. And since they last forever it not that expensive anyway.

Gummy Bare, thanks for all the information and clarification! I didn't know about the stuff that might be in the center. I'm looking at what I've got right now and I don't see anything but that doesn't mean much, heh. I will err on the side of caution and set this aside for "possible future use." ;)
