I just ordered a Reduced RSST Chamber top cap from Cap it All Vapes
https://www.facebook.com/CapItAllVapes?hc_location=stream

I don't think these are drastically reduced; but they do look good :)

I am hoping for an improvement, but not expecting much.

Captivape used to make a very reduced chamber top cap...
Be nice to try one out - if I could find one.
Maybe it was for an AGA.

The Captivape cap was for the Aga-T2. I have one and it has greatly increased flavor. Let us know how the RSST chamber reducer is. I've been eyeing one so I can bring the RSST back into the rotation.

Hey... my only issue with it at this point is that I'm getting a little juice down the center post. Near as I can tell, the only place that it could be coming from is that juice in the tank is getting up and over, and back down that center tube. What is sealing that connection? Just some pressure from the plastic tube and the bottom of the top deck? I tried cutting down a cart condom, but it was too thick and kept the bottom cap from being able to thread in with the top deck.

I was thinking of scouring the o-rings in the plumbing section at Home Depot... there might be a small enough o-ring that I could slide it up the center metal post so the plastic makes a better seal.

Anyone else have an easy way to fix that?

Here is an easy fix: RSST Leak Fix - YouTube

AGI tank comes with spare center post insulators. they arent the hard kind like the stock rsst one. its rubber/silicon-like and plugs leaks up perfectly. i read the aga-t2 insulators work just as well too. rsst usually leaks overnight, just checked and zero leakage. browse around for AGI or AGA-T2 spare insulator packs.

I picked up some tape last weekend, haven't gotten around to fixing it yet. It's not really any leakage down the center post from the top deck, it has to be from the plastic tank up and over the plastic tube. But I can wrap the outside of the metal post that goes down, to make a seal between the plastic middle tube of the tank and the metal tube coming down. I'll throw some on the center post too, just to be sure.

Sweet!

OK... one more issue... :) I am having wicking issues. When I'm running at .8, thing vapes great, but the wick runs out of juice a bit quick and I'll get a dry hit towards the end... verified by popping the cap and watching it.. good vapor.. good vapor... vapor peters out and the coil will eventually start to glow. It isn't nearly as bad a problem at 1 and 1.2 ohm

What is the resolution here? Rewrap a new wick? It's not that old, it was my first mesh wick, but not that old. It's a 'straw' type with 400 SS mesh. At .8, I am running a 3/2 wrap of 28g Kanthal... 4/3 at 1, 5/4 at 1.2. I've checked and I think I got a handle on any hotspots... but I don't see a glow coil until I hear the wick go juice-starved.

SOLVED.... My issue was that when I redid the coil, pulling a wrap, I coiled it back inside the center post and not around. When I did, there was a little slack around the top coil. I tightened it up and made sure that the wick was snug against the coil, and it's wicking much better. More coils in contact with the wick more juice.

Makes me wonder if I can use a lower resistance wire with more coils... What resistance does a twisted 32g wire match to? From my evod coils, I found that a higher wrap count coil with a lower resistance wire vaped better than a low wrap/high resistance coil.

If I could get .8 out of a 5 wrap, maybe I would get a smoother vape?

I've always been a tinker.. :) I'll have to get a second RSST to be my test rig.

Read this thread. This give you a better explanation as to why thicker wire is better.

You know... I think I am going to take a break from SS mesh.... I rewicked my little Smok RDA with a microcoil and cotton ball wick and the vape is... well...

... OK... I'm back.. had a take a moment to collect myself.

I think tomorrow night I am going to pull the SS... build me a 1 ohm micro and turn the RSST into an auto dripper. I might revisit SS again once I figure out why the damn thing dries out quicker than a slug on salt lick (even with a good tilt going).

Might want to give SS cable/rope a try. I use both it and SS mesh with a hollow ekowool sock/hat under the kanthal wrap. Makes shorts almost non-existent. Hot legs can still happen though.

But that stuff has made a world of difference in my builds. I am a sloppy coiler, no matter how hard I try, but the ekowool saves my bacon every time. I even made dual SS mesh wicks for my AGA-T2. Works like a dream. I'd like to see them update the RSST soon. Bigger tank, smaller chamber, pyrex, etc. It can't be that far off....

I can coil pretty good... got good contact, even spacing and glow... might just be that my wick is on the way out. It was the first one I ever did and I might have messed it up with all the fiddling.

Still, the whole auto-dripper concept is intriguing. Guess it's worth a shot before I wrap a new mesh.

I got my reduced chamber top caps from CapitallVapes yesterday.
They are shorter and less room on the inside - which does help produce a bit better flavor.
I opened up the intake holes to 3/32" (came with 1/16").
I think I'm liking my air holes bigger with smaller chambers a lot more.
Most of my builds are between .6-.8 ohms.
I am liking these better than the stock cap both in aesthetics and performance.
Since they are shorter, you may have to build your wick/coil a little shorter; but no big deal
- if anything I prefer it to keep it short, tight and closer to the juice source.
I got one in brass and one SS. Now I need glass tanks :)

I like the cap! I cannot find Capitol Vapes, is there a link available to them? By the way if anyone has not tried silver plated brass for the positive pin instead of the SS pin that comes with the RSST it is well worth it. I finally got around to installing one and wow, makes a big difference on my builds. I got mine from Ninja Mods and did shorten the pin to match the length of the original SS pin.

Cool, thanks for the links guys! Just ordered a SS cap and the spare positive pin insulators. I am really liking using cotton to lower the volume inside the top cap, will be interesting to see how the new top cap compares, with and without cotton as a filler.

I ordered the exact same items. Supposedly the silicon insulators stop the leakage problem as opposed to the plastic ones that come with the RSST. I am really loving this RBA. I hope that the top cap lives up to the hype.
