I've seen some setups where they just slide a blunt needle past the wick in the formerly-known-as fill hole. It shouldn't disturb the wick all that much.
I would suspect a second hole would be necessary... that's the one thing that keeps me from trying.... To paraphrase the punchline... you can't unscrew a bell housing.
It's easy enough to do in an AGA-T2. I did it, and I'm a klutz and a doofus.
But I understand wanting to do set it up specifically in an RSST though.
I'm hoping they expand this line pretty soon. It could use some (cheap) upgrades and variants.

Yes I have seen it done before. The existing fill hole will be used for the second wick. The top cap will have two 1/16" air holes, meaning a second air hole will need to be drilled. There will be a air hole directly in front of each wick. I will also drill a new hole in the deck which will be the new fill hole. I am aiming for a .6 ohm build using ribbon Kanthol, 400 SS almost solid mesh wicks with a thin wrap of cotton at the coil area.
Within the next two weeks I will set up one of my spare RSST this way. I am not in a hurry as I am really enjoying a Immortalizer I recently set up.
Either one will work equally well for the mix you are using; I have used both.
I also got got the RSST today after having a AGA-T2 that I was always messing with and never did have that "ah-ha" flavor hit. By the time the RSST wick was well saturated it was "Whoa" this is what I have been missing. Ordered another one tonite to put on another unit. When I first was thinking of getting into rebuildables I sought the advise of the learned ECF members and more than one suggested getting the RSST. I only wish I had followed their advise, then I wouldn't have had the frustration I did.
Can you get a close-up/how-to on how you wick it? I missed any info on how you lay the cotton down.

Two ways. You can have your coil on the cotton wick with partially exposed coil. You can also wrap your coil with the cotton wick.
In both setup, you need the wick that goes in your tank to be really loose or you will have issues with wicking. And the most important part that apply to both setup... keep the holes of your coil on both ends open, you want air to pass through inside your coil.
Anybody have a solution to a stripped bottom insulator on the RSST? I stripped out the bottom nylon where the positive post screws into, and I always have to push down on it to make contact.
just buy a second one... they are cheap enough and think of all the spare parts you will have!
This thread is a Godsend. I just finished my third coil on my RSST.
#1 coil- Un-vapable with an abysmal wick. Made it based solely on Phil B's video. Not to blame him, but it was not comprehensive.
#2 coil- Vape-able, but wicking issues, and a 1.1 ohm rating. Found this thread just before I made it, but only read the first 30 or so posts.
#3 coil- Oh my. It's good. 1.8 ohms, no hot spots, the coil wicks like a dream. eHuman's blog really made it all make sense to me. Man, this is one tasty vape.
I did not take pictures of coils 1 and 2. But here is number 3. By all means, if you see room for improvement, let me know. I won't be offended in the least. This is so great.

Indeed that is a good looking coil, even spacing, relatively even tension. One thing that I do differently however, is attaching both the positive and negative leads to the opposite sides of their respective posts/screws. So the top end of the wire coming off the coil forms an "S" between the wick and positive center pin. And the same on the bottom with the negative screw. I'm not certain that this will or does have any additive benefits, it is just something some dude at a local vape shop once told me. Perhaps it achieves a bit more surface contact between wick and coil using very nearly the same length of wire (at the end of your coil).
I will do that on the next one. I am out of mesh at the moment, so I will not be tearing this coil apart just yet. It is simply a staggering vape I am getting from it at this time. I have a second RSST, though, so I will try your 'S' technique on the next one. Thanks for the tip!
I always try to do that as well, but sometimes I get a hot leg at the top, and switching the capture point to the opposite side usually fixes that right up. That's probably due to my less-than-stellar coil wrappin' skills though, heh.
I read a rumor that the glass tank from the AGAT's will work on the RSST using the AGAT O-rings. Can anyone confirm this?
Just to update, i continue my madness micron after micron ... i have now something near a finished-working prototype.
The concentrated flavors, the amazing density and the "clearness" of the hit is better than i imagined.
I have a problem of excessive capilarity due to the volumetric's interractivities and by the fact than i work the air hole in a very progressive way, still in progress.
