My first Vmax came with stripped 510 connector and I was afraid that the vendor would think that I did it and not exchange it, well they exchanged it but I had planned to install a shorty 510 with shim and Super Glue Gel (if necessary), I have posted this pic before but here it is again. I was very confident that I could do thisView attachment 118718

EDIT: note that black area on 30% of 510, that's chrome/nickle

Ok been lurking kind of heavy and have decided. Think I will get the chrome the chrome vmax. Been trying to figure out whether to get the provari or something. Just was having a hard time justifying the promax. After going through this thread I have decided to get the vmax. You can go to square deal and get a 3 year warranty for like 15.00 bucks. Now here is my legitamite question. Guess I will buy from CCV also after looking over the thread. Would I be better off just not to buy the batteries from CCV so as not to get any knock off batteries and just get the IMR's through some other retailer? IF so who is a good battery retailer. Next question, If i get the button top batteries I guess I do not need the magnet, do I? Is it better to get the flat top and the magnet?
Next question, I also have a box mod that uses 14500 ultrafire, If I get this battery charger from CCV,Sysmax i4 Intellicharge Battery Charger, will it charge the 14500's, I guess it will charge the 18350's for sure, and maybe might last question.
I have seen some people talk about the Efest battery, Would I better to purchase these instead of the regular IMR's not really sure what the difference is.
Thanks to everyone for all the info you have put out there. It really helped me make my decision.

Foster, If you haven't bought your VMax and accessories yet, CCV has a 15% discount in effect for this weekend for anything in the store. Read post 1266 or use code: 1STYEAR

I managed to kill my steel vmax - dropped it and the heaviness of the Fanis tank snapped the carto threads inside the atty connection - destroyed the threads trying to get it out.

I have a Chrome too but it's starting to fritz - ohm readings are jumping up and down and freshly charged batteries are reading incorrectly. Two charged AW's that read 4.20 on a Fluke multimeter each show up as 7.5 combined on the Vmax.
I also have a Nova knock off called a GS core - the 2.8 head burns at 3 volts and reads as 2.2, sometimes even 1.5ohm on the Vmax - fine on everything else, reads as 2.7ohm on the multimeter.

That's the second Vmax that I've owned which has a bad board.
I'm just going to buy a ProVari - I think it'll be cheaper and less hassle in the long run.

I couldn't vape at true lower voltages if I wanted to, the Vmax literally can't do it.

The accidental damage I know won't be covered BUT -

Did you contact the vendor regarding the bad boards? I'd appreciate reading your experience if you'd like to share. I work too hard for my $$ to give it to vendors with poor customer service.

Hi folks
When I first got my vmax v1 I had a problem with battery's not fitting inside the end cap .the battery's came supplied and were vmax battery's .
To save a lot of problems with returning the vmax to the vendor . I got my dremel out I removed the spring inside the end cap
And had to take about 1 mm off the inside I put the spring back then then the battery's and all was okay .

I also contacted the vendor just to make him aware of this problem for future reference .

I think quality control is an issue some times.

Cheers

Just curious what voltage I should let my batteries run down to before charging them out. I know it's around 3.7v for my 18650's, but I have never stacked batteries nor have I dealt with 18350's.

I just let the vmax tell me when it's time to recharge through the low battery warning flashes. Mine come off at around 3.2v using the genuine AW IMR 18350's.

Other brand of IMR 18350's will fit just fine in the cap. I have no fitment problems with genuine AW IMR350's and I believe the equivalent E'fest batteries fit properly also. Not all 18350's have the exact same diameter.

When I read this post I thought OP was referring to increasing depth of battery cap as I don't see enough meat on side wall to remove 1mm, maybe OP simply overstated amount removed as the threaded area of cap is pretty thin already,
