I received my wick, wire and mesh today. Now I know what 400 mesh looks like, what I was trying to use previously was probably 100. Anyway I did a U shaped mesh in my smok ViVi and it works pretty good, but on my second ViVi tank I used 3mm silica and followed Optimo's recommendations for wrapping a good coil(loose the untwist wick). I believe I now have got something good here. I would like to say how it compares to a single wick Phoenix but I don't want to start anything. I will try a vertical wick next time as it is much easier to do. Thanks again to Optimo.

Unfortunately that won't be happening anytime soon!

BTW...Congrats and Welcome to the VMAX Family! :)
Yeah I figured, wishful thinking I guess.

Thanks, this will be my first mod of any kind. I was seconds away from buying a lavatube but decided to take a look at some alternatives. I'm thinking I made the right call.

I just wanted ALL of you to know I will be making a Rebuildable Tech Support and Link thread in the VMAX Elite Group! I am asking ALL of you to PLEASE, post in there ANY helpful info that OUR Family would benefit from questions that they may have about making and wrapping coils with SS mesh, silica wick, bamboo cotton, ETC... and also post ANY links to where we can acquire SS mesh, kanthal, silica wick, bamboo cotton, ETC...!

Thank You,
Freddie

I had to be convinced. Some of smoktech's other offerings seem, to put it delicately, of less than the highest quality. The Bolt, the Epower... ugh. I freely admit that this impression is solely based on appearance, those devices are probably quite functional, I just think they are ugly. What can I say? I'm a shallow person. No such complaints with the vmax though. Looks very nice and from what I have gathered here, has a sturdy build.

Well Kill, you my friend have come to the right place for ALL technical info and device support in regards to the VMAX and soon to be the ZMAX! There are a lot of VMAX owners here who will go out of there way to help you, should you have ANY questions! Which VMAX did you get?

I got the SS from Crystal Clear with an extra set of batteries. I bought their charger, speaking of cheap looking. No experience with IMR batts. Is that charger sufficient?

I just got the SS Vmax from CCV last week and I've been very happy with the performance. It makes the lavatube it replaced seem quite anemic. I had ordered a trustfire 4 bay multi-charger from CCV a while back, but the one I ordered doesn't seem to be on the website anymore. It's been charging my esfet batteries quite nicely. I'm getting well over a day on one set of batteries. Which charger did you order?

The BEST charger is the i4 Intellicharger and I will put that up against the Pila HANDS DOWN!

I don't completely understand the mechanics around it but the Pila uses CC (constant current) and CV (constant voltage) to charge - it's supposedly kinder to your batteries, the i4 uses an algorithm to simulate CC and CV but true CC and CV are the way to go - because of this the Pila is considered to be the "gold standard" of chargers.

I'll still buy an i4 though...

Glad to see Freddie is back, a
B. I'm getting another vmax per the co-op that's going on
C. I never thought I'd get another pv, but i love my vmax that much
D. Freddie and vapnj helped me out tons trying to decide on what to get
E. Freddie, I ended up getting the xtar wpii 2 charger based on reviews I read at some of the flashlight forums (who knew there were such forums. I got this because it slightly under charges, which is better for our batteries. I looked at the xtar spii, but I couldn't justify the price difference, and after the fact, I've found that the wpii 2 I did get consistently charges my batts at 4.1V, and I do mean, time and time again, and again
