Like a lot of superheroes, Swamp Thing went through several incarnations. I didn't really take notice of the character until Alan Moore's version, though. Moore took Swamp Thing to a whole new level; one that was more powerful, more interesting and much more adult. Swamp Thing was always meant to be part of the horror genre, but I never found the earlier comics or TV/movie versions to be particularly scary or creepy the way Moore's was.

The Herculoids
Defending the planet Amzot from menaces from outer space. In addition to the humanoid characters (Zandor, Tara, and Dorno), there was a dragon who could shoot lasers (Zok), a giant rock ape (Igoo), dinosaur rhino who shot rocks through his horn (Tundro), and two absorbing protoplasm creatures (Gloop and Gleep). Although the cartoon first appeared in 1967, I caught it when it was revived for a short time in 1981, under the name "Space Stars."
