Hello.
I was looking at pictures of SMPL clone I bought and I was left wondering.
Where is the insulation on SMPL button? Every SMPL button I looked up didn't have insulation that would "pertrude" over contact.
Is the 18650 sitting on the thread and using wrap as insulation or is there some other technique I am not familiar with?
On the pic is button with black "pseudo-circle" around. That is the part I believe it insulates (combined with battery wrap) button from missfiring.
Am I right?

There is no insulator between the switch housing and the battery. The outer “rim” sits higher than the centre contact so the battery sits on that. The centre contact is then pushed to make contact with the battery - completing the circuit.

BTW, what you can see is a circlip. It is metal and does not act as an insulator, it holds the switch unit together.

I keep a smpl as my out and about mod. The design of the simple relies heavily on the insulation capabilities of the battery wrapper. You must have battery wrappers in perfect condition if you don’t want to have serious and dangerous problems with your mod
