Hi there,

I just got the SMY God Mod, and for the life of me, I can't get anything to properly fire on it - if at all.

Me and my buddy, both of us experienced builders, were trying to get this damn thing to work last night. I was under the impression that it could fire down to .3ohms, but according to the manual, it onlyfires down to .5.

We have tried everything from .1 to 2.89ohms, a conglomeration of single coils, and dual coils, and a variety of different gauges. Most everything we put on it either said 'atomizer short'(which there was not), 'low resistance', or 'high resistance'.
Everything that did in fact fire, could barely tolerate 30watts, and the kanthal melted, or just popped.

How are you even supposed to be able to build something at .5ohms that will tolerate 180watts? I tried a single coil of 22 guage with like 16 wraps at a 2mm dia., and THAT started melting when pushing the watts passed 60.
Like seriously, how are you supposed to use this device as it is advertised to be used?
I got this because I wanted 180watts of power, but how?!?

As you can tell I'm quite frustrated, mainly because my fiancee and I decided to unwrap 1 xmas gift each last night as she reaaaally wanted to see if I got her a ring... (I did lol). And my gift was the -180watt God Mod.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Answers? Help!

Regards,

My wife and I did the early present thing too, I also got a god mod, she opened the wrong one and got a stereo. Lol. I also had an issue getting a coil to fire properly. My first build was supposed to be .8 ohms, well after building and installing, no fire. Checked all coil connections, checked the build on the ohmmeter again, .79, still no fire. Tore it down, rebuilt (hate wasting stuff though) to .53 ohms, tried it, no fire. Getting ...... now. No shorts, good connections, what the hell? Took me about a half hour but I finally found the problem. I was getting very poor contact between the Atty and the mod itself. 1 slight adjustment, and hot damn! she is blowing clouds. Little disappointed by the .5 ohm limit, but with 180 watts I think I will be able to find a sweet spot for almost any coil. Good luck, and if it does not get better, I would return it.

What wattage and voltage did you get it to fire at? I try to push 180 and then there is no more kanthal...

Update, I got it to work, but there has got to be a better way. I had to use 16 wraps of 24 guage with over a 3mm diameter... And that barely fits in my Plume Veil... Like at all.

It rings in at about .76ohms, and the build looks terrifyingly horrible.
Any suggestions would be great.

Haven't even opened up the super mode yet, so I have not tried anything above 80 watts. Quick update , tore down and rebuilt again to a .75 ohm coil. 12 wraps of 30 gauge around a 7/64 drill bit, triple coil build on a Cerberus clone. Firing fine on the God box. The only way I can see to get really high resistance would be single coils, these coils would pop at anything much higher than the 60 watts I am currently using.

I realized my friend and I had a completely different set of logic when trying to figure it out. I did 8 wraps of 28g with 2.0diameter, ringing at .7. Works perfectly. Anything over about 80w gives a dry hit after about a second or two, just means I gotta strategically wick.

I guess we were trying to get more surface area, trying to get .5 exactly so we could get 180w without inhaling fire, hence the massive diameter. Probably gonna get a 26650 RDA so I can fit bigger coils, but until then, I am happy with what I got, as it finally works.

Kinda helps if your mod isn't smarter than you......[emoji29] [emoji29] [emoji29]

well, 28 gauge kanthal works at about 10 to 15 watts per ohm; I'll use 10: 18 ohms of coil would take 180 watts
I'll call that 16 ohms: that's four 4 ohm coils.

a 28 gauge kanthal 1 ohm quadcoil should work.

If you tell me what you normally build I can tell you better what to build; you need to look at the watts per ohm for what you know works, then build a suitable coil over 0.5 ohms but for the same watts per ohm (of wire).
Note: that's watts per ohm of wire, not watts per combined coil ohms.

I normally use 22AWG and vape at about .12 ohms. Unfortunately the regulator in the god mod won't handle that low of a resistance. In order to get a dual coil of 22g to make .5 ohms, I would need a ludicrous amount of wire, so unless I get a 26650 RDA (which I will), it won't really work.
I had to bite the bullet and use 28AWG and can't really go passed 80w. It is working now, I just would like a dual coil that wont set my RDA on fire that can work at 180w..

22 gauge at 0.12 ohms.
You didn't say, but I get the impression (and most drippers are) dual coil;

so that works out to 0.24 ohms per coil
I'll use 4 volts nominal voltage, which gives: 67 watts.
which works out to 278 watts per ohm

180 watts would work out to 0.65 ohms

using
Coil wrapping | Steam Engine | free vaping calculators
22 gauge;
single coil;
0.65 ohm

2mm ID - 13 wraps
3mm ID - 10 wraps
4mm ID - 8 wraps
5mm ID - 7 wraps
6mm ID - 6 wraps

Two RDA's that I run on my GOD and both work super, 1. Onslaught with triple coil build........Geyser quad coil build....using 30AWG Kanthal A-1 on both...... I find that the GOD 180 works great with Triple & Quad coils. my builds come in @ .5 on the Geyser & .6 - .8 on the Onslaught, I usually run both builds @ 5w-7w

No edyle, I meant 5w-7w higher & Hotter isn't always better in my opinion,,, I look for max flavor combined with a nice cloud ,, This Mod's circuit board and running 3 18650 Batts seems to have changed the game up a bit for me,,,, If I where Running these 2 different Atty's im using on say my Sigelei 100W mod I would probably be running anywhere between 18w-23w to get the same vape that I would on my GOD 180W Mod @ 5w- to 7w,,,,

So sounds like the GOD box is reporting the wrong numbers? Either that or the sigelei is.
Maybe the GOD box is using MEAN instead of RMS for the maths.

The Cerberus RDA is kind of a three coil or nothing, would be tough to get a single or dual to fit and/or hit properly. Looks like another trip to the vapor store for a new RDA. Or maybe I will rebuild my Mutation x v1 to a .5 or higher. Had a thought though. I see the god mod as a means to fire higher ohm coils as quickly and as hot as a sub ohm on a mech. Anyone else see it like that?
