Let me put it this way; if you're a small country with a lot of gold medals, you count the gold medals; if you're a big country with a lot of medals of all colors, you count all the medals.

I know that from personal experience. I used to be on the other side...

i beg to differ - even russia does not count the american way - as i said, this only happens here as far as i know
