So, I'm not going to post in that thread, but my 41-year old friend who died from flu/pneumonia earlier this year might have lived had he had medical coverage and gone to see a doctor.

Unless it made the news AND you have a link to an online story, it would be dismissed as "anecdotal", CES.

Well, considering most of us here on ECF are anecdotes for the safety and efficacy of ecigs....we know how much anecdotes are worth. sigh.

I talked with some friends at the time about maybe trying to get some coverage for the insurance aspect, but consensus was it would have put his family through the ringer, and no one wanted to do that.

Break time!

I made the mistake of looking at the "work area". I know it'll all fall together and be cleaned up and look great, but the sight-to-behold now makes me queasy. Good thing I'm working on the opposite side of the house.

Two (2) "contractor clean-up bags" full of one (1) pine tree schmutz... almost to the point where the bags had to be rolled to the curb. That tree really needs to just come down... but it does provide shade for the two main bedrooms.

62 degrees... house doors opened!!! At last.

That's a really sad story.

Although, now, she could probably get insurance since they can't refuse "pre existing conditions"....
She still wouldn't have been able to afford the rates on 9,000 per year. Yet they won't plug the gap, so she doesn't qualify for either medicaid nor ACA. Shame on them. Blood on their hands, IMO.

Aye, bear...this does not bode well for the summer, except insect-wise.

And speaking of which ... (and I was negligent in not mentioning this earlier, but) ... there have been commercials on TV regarding insect repellants (ie: "Off"") for many weeks now. Are there REALLY areas of the country where mosquitoes are a nuisance in MARCH???!!! APRIL, even??? Or were those ads specifically for bayou country and The Everglades? I don't know... it's like Christmas displays in stores in September. Just seems a TAD BIT early to me.

Things that make you go "grrr".
