And DUH me!!! ***MY*** vacuum (Hus has "his" own) is a 30-year old (+ ???) Kenmore canister!!! Have only needed to replace the hose in all that time. Mine has nothing on the handle-proper to incinerate, though. Just a power head connection under it.

that's where the malfunction occurred

not sure about other kenmore products but the canister vacs are done by panasonic. seems to be a well-kept secret from their customer service - i was told numerous times i need to call kenmore!

later, atty! and better luck ;)

I think i'd do without the light for quite awhile then, Bear.

Well, like a total jerkass, I bought the 3-year extended warranty because I was all anxious and panicked at the time of purchase. I never - ever - do extended warranties EXCEPT on cars.

Oh... I was told by the salesperson to NOT expect ANY new fridge to last more than 10-12 years (compared to the circa 1986 one that died in May this year). If that is really the case, how do people justify spending over $2500 (in some cases) for a fridge??? I got a 25.2 cuFt side-by-side for $899. With NO space-hogging in-door water/ice contraption (just something else to break... plus needing to run a water line at god-knows-how-much extra). And we LOVE IT (so far).

heading to the po!

[LET rant = "true"]

And speaking of the PO (remember... YOU started it, Tibs)... I was expecting an Amazon delivery yesterday ("out for delivery") and it did not arrive. I checked "status" today to see there was "attempted delivery" at 15h23 on 17jun14. I was HOME. I see/saw no ticket on any door. There is a sentence on status that says "contact carrier for further instructions". So after calling FedEx and speaking with Yasmine and getting the 22-digit tracking number (*) EVENTUALLY correct, she says it's a FedEx "SmartPost" problem and transfers me over to Achmed. He (with sitars and zils twinkling in the background) says they will make only ONE attempt... after that I have to go to the PO to get package (see how this ties in, Tibs?).

So: This is a PROBLEM with the MAIL delivery person. I was HOME and LUCID when the mail was delivered yesterday. I vividly recall saying to myself (hearing the distinctive roar of the Jeep), "Wow! Mail before dusk!!! She must be doing only quickies on her route today!" (You see, if mail arrives ANY time before 18h00, I consider it a rare treat.) She NEVER "attempted delivery". No way in HELL did she "attempt delivery". And now I have to traipse to the PO (see how this ties in, Tibs?) to get the package. The bint! I'll be watching for her today.

[LET rant = "false"]

(*) Why does a number have to be 22 digits??? That is in the SEXTILLIONS. Does a human even have that many cells??? If the current world population is 7.3 billion, that 22-digit tracking number could be used to track about 1.3 TRILLION packages per person with each package having a unique number. Amazing.
