Sometimes CES, I "pull back" and just wonder.....
"Is a giant asteroid is going to hit the planet in 3 weeks anyway?" ;) This de-stresses me for some reason. Puts the impermanence thing into perspective. lol. We're all worried about using too many plastic grocery bags 'n such, and it turns out that 3 weeks from now our species goes extinct along with most of the planet (ultimate irony and comment on the futility of "worry"). Worry/concern can motivate and cause action...and that's good. But sometimes I just need to pull back and put it all in perspective. I'll adapt.

and then I remember,
"Life is what happens to you as you're making OTHER plans......."

So I work toward the optimistic future, planning on no asteroids, but rolling with the punches on a day-to-day basis. That's all I can do. I try to plan and work for my optimistic future. Sure is hard sometimes. I know. Seems like events all conspire to throw obstacles at us all.

We overcome though! :)

Does he let the kid pick out which flavour (bottle) he should vape next??? You know... pick it up and hand it to Dad?

(I'm just justifying the 89% score I got yesterday.)

let me give that cat a hand! :D

+1 to most of this (i just can't endorse random asteroids ;) )

I'll be fine- heck, even worst case i'll be in reasonable shape for awhile. And I've been working to save as much as possible and make sure my expenses are as low as possible. And the uncertainty isn't going to change my effort.

I'm just in the process of shifting my mindset after having the uncertainty confirmed. optimistic - cynical - optimistic - cynical - optimistic LOL

Even worst case, i won't be without a job, because my second job would increase my hours, and would probably bring me on full-time. But I don't really want to do that job full-time and the loss of 9 years of matching funds in two retirement accounts would really suck.

Do you have a financial planner?

You may find out you have nothing to REALLY worry about, financially. At the very least, you could walk away knowing what you need to do should one income source disappear. At best, you may find out you won't need to "do" anything... and that the one remaining job will provide security for the future.

(If you do not have a planner, I wish you were not so far away. I'd recommend mine!!!)

Hopefully no stitches and no driving accidents, cat-initiated or otherwise (isn't it kinda hard to put a cat in a crate while driving)

We would have to pull over.

Saving grace here is that the vet is LESS THAN 1/4 mile away once out of the apartment complex. But cats are lightning-fast.

I sort of do...through Ameriprise. It's kind of half Geoff-ed. I've only recently been in a position to have anything to plan with. Financially i should be ok..it's more that it feels a bit like failure. The remaining job will provide security in the short term, and i may get to figure out what my 3rd career will be. :)

no question you'd be ok BUT it really does a lot of damage to your peace of mind when you're confronted with the existence of such precarious job security.

well heck...you could walk the cat over on its leash! :D

It's along a very busy road and whizzing cars would probably freak her out. She is accustomed to the AMAZING serenity of the apartment complex... except when they mow the lawns.

...and time to finish the mutant hedgerow! Only about 15 more feet to go! :) Later!!!
