He was badnews Katya...still not thrilled with the bashing, even though i do get the level of frustration for those who tried and tried to help.

and back to my play by play on birmingham weather...this is what happens with 2 inches of snow in the deep south

Very funny!

We are so dry that I may have to kill my lawn in front of the house and replace it with some drought resistant plants... It's really bad in here. No snowpack in the Sierras, no rain in sight...

I'm sorry! I really wasn't thinking in those terms when I wrote that ... I completely forgot about the drought out there, despite the fact that Atty put up a link detailing it just the other day. :(

Oh, I know you didn't mean it that way.

It's just really bad this year. No rain whatsoever. The forests are burning, mandatory water restrictions are almost certain unless a miracle happens.

 Well it's that time folks! Be happy and be safe! :D

Actually kat...I'd love that weather! But it's California and I don't think they'd appreciate my motorcycle or my gun. Both are loud and smelly.

Plenty of bikes and guns around here. :p Government regulations notwithstanding. :D

Be good and be well!

My mom is in Phoenix, and conditions are similar, though probably not quite as bad. Stiil, no rain, no snowpack up north. All the major storms have started eastward. They've gotten no moisture from any of this crazy weather.

Goodnight Meggers, be safe.

Yep, we have that Ridiculously Resilient Ridge (that's the official name, BTW) of high pressure that's sitting over the South West and doesn't let any moisture in...

Haze, you had the "don't worry, it'll just be a dusting" forecast too?

Snow's stopped here, but there are a lot of people stranded in place, including some kids stuck at school. People leaving thier cars left and right, and walking home or to shelter. The best part is that the weather guesser who was the most adamant that "it'll just be a dusting" had to park his car and walk the last mile into the TV station.

And yes, all you northern folks, we had under 2" of snow.

But Fran, if you want to send that helper down here - i'd be just fine with that :)

I assume that main problem is the ICE under that 2" of snow.......and no salt trucks...

it's been there long enough for them to name it? oh noes.

um..no ice underneath..lots of hills, packed snow, and little or no experience driving in packed snow. No salt trucks either. The snow came fast and unexpectedly. Since the storm was forecast for further south, the trucks were sent there yesterday to be ready. And it is getting worse further south- they do have the ice under the snow and even less experience in dealing with it than we do.

Are you expecting more snow?

No more snow predicted- but the snow that was on the roads is now ice. There's a small SUV on the road that i can see from my back deck that can't get enough traction to go up a 10 degree grade. I think someone was walking out to help the person. I hope so anyway. I'm not sure what I'd be able to do to help.

Thanks for the update on Sniffle, Tibs. I was wondering if he'd gotten stuck at the University. It'd be tough to be stuck away from his son.

Sniffle is a local vaper. He's run some several very good coops here. Very nice guy.
