............. ;)

i'm not worried about that one lady, atty - but there are an awful lot of chronically ill people in this country who might have to give up their medications or pay 100% themselves without it ever counting toward their limits. if the drug is not on the plan's formulary they are out of luck

hope that frannie is ok :(

Maybe you should tell that to the article people that say her OOP max is 6K ish....currently.

Anyway, there's a lot of stink about that commercial. They keep running and running it. I see it every other hour. :/

Her premiums are 500 less per month than before. But she has 6K OOP max that she didn't have before. That's fact, not theory, per her plan now.

So yeah, OOP is higher initially for her and probably many. But it's capped.

it's only capped if your drugs are on the plan's approved list .................

Good evening Snails :) I hope everyone had a nice weekend!

Sorry I didn't make it in yesterday...my genius boss decided to call us in an hour earlier the day after we lost an hour's sleep :(

I hope you get your septic fixed soon Fran...I don't know much that kind of thing, but I do know it sucks for you :(

I hope you get the mod sorted out, Atty :) And good night, BTW

I edited the above. You'll probably want to un-like that Pepper. ;)

Nope. It's not really that much of a concern. Politics on ECF isn't going to change the world, i.e., make any difference. But to add to your edit, there is more to the story. As I understand it, you are correct that what she will end up paying is about equal to the plan she had before being forced into the ACA. The difference is her pay schedule has changed.. Rather than having a consistent amount due each month, say $1k, she may have one month where she will have to pay $3k and then a month where she has nothing due. I don't remember the exact figures, but you get the idea.

probably everyone is gone, by Hi.:)

I try to stop by Snails first when I sign on late so that I can say hello to you. I'm glad we didn't completely miss each other tonight :)

Evening,Stone:)
Good evening Fran :)

Good evening Pepper Man :) I try to stay out of politics on ECF too, unless they are vaping related politics (well, that, and to complain about our local nanny state )

Hey Stone.
I heard people in NY need a nanny state. You guys can't control how much soda you drink.:D

I've no idea how to estimate my income this year.... not on any fixed salary. But alas, I'll just do my best.

Estimate as low as possible... maybe $100 over what would put you into Medicaid. Get the max subsidy all year... then pay any difference at tax time. :: shrug :: (Exactly what I did... but I'm 100% positive I will NOT even "make" as much as I claimed, so there will be no payback of subsidy come tax time 2015.)

Pay now or pay later.

It's like "Kam Fong as Chin Ho" (*)... what's the difference???

(*) - Only people of a certain age will get that.

ETA:
Or, if you're watching in China: "Jack Rord as Steve McGallet"... what's the diffelence?!

Luckily, that stupid soda "ban" is stuck in the courts and the champion of that law is out of office  It might still be upheld, but I've got fingers and toes crossed on that one (and I don't even drink soda ).

... and without quoting anybody in particular above ...

It was announced quite a few months ago (to the best of my failing recollection) that annual out-of-pocket limits in ACA were SUSPENDED for 2014. HOWEVER... that may have been reversed, but I do not remember hearing they were.

But Tibs is correct... anything that is NOT covered by ACA (ie: non-formulary specialty drugs) do NOT count toward annual OOP costs. Furthermore, if "durable medical equipment" is not covered, your prosthetic limb, portable oxygen system, cane, walker, etc will NOT be counted as well. So, while that woman's premium+OOP may equal her previous premium, she could very well be facing financial ruin under ACA.

(I was really hoping we were done with that subject as it makes my blood boil.)
